Joan: So your term paper topic is the industrial revolution...how would you describe that time in history? Holly: Um...it was INDUSTRIAL...and...um...REVOLUTIONARY! Joan: To think I once wanted to teach middle school. Holly: This isn't as hard as I thought! Ask me another one!!
What ages are the children in middle school in America? I think Holly is 13 or 14; am I correct? If that is the case then I agree with one of yesterday’s comments that that age is a bit young for an in-depth study of the Industrial Revolution. Both my daughters took History on Higher Grade which in the US would probably mean they majored in the subjects on Higher Grade. They were about 15 when they made the choice and both studied the Industrial Revolution in great detail at that stage. They were in Grade 10 at 15 and finished school and passed matric [Grade 12] at about 17/18. How does that compare with the US system? In South Africa the students have to pass matric on higher grade to enter university.
