What is wrong with “closed-toe shoes”? They are a lot more dignified-looking than those hideous flip-flop sandals.

I will never understand how any Mother could ever allow their child to wear flip flops to school.

    “we were born bare foot”
    This is true.
    We were also born naked.
So that’s not really a very good argument, is it?

More to the point, we were all born screaming and covered in blood – not sure that is what people want to see in schools (the NRA’s position on the matter notwithstanding)

Her toes will cramp up, grow deformed and will require pediatric shoes when she is old and gray.

Dramatic, much? They’re not in old-time Japan where her feet are purposely deformed to look “tiny” and “dainty”.
Just buy shoes with support that fit properly, and anything would be better than flip-flops.

I think the term is ‘orthopedic’ not pediatric which refers to children ! !

Feet are meant to have socks and closed shoes. Look at the feet of those that insist on bare feet- covered with all sorts of ugly things!:( I have worn shoes and socks every day of my 57 years and my feet are in perfect, pristine condition!!

Don’t like closed toe shoes, either. Don’t wear flip flops, but do wear sandals 99% of the time. I can relate.

Here in Manhattan there seem to be three standard footwear styles – heels, tennis shoes for the smart people who put their heels on at work, and flip flops. I see plenty of flip flops here at work but Amazon is about as dress down as it gets.
