    Ostrich eggs are on sale at the curio shops in the ostrich farms. Some of them have been carved and can be used as lamps; some of them can be prepared for decoupage work.

    I’ve always wanted to use an ostrich egg for pysanky. They’re not inexpensive, though.

    @JoanHelen

    I was wondering more how it got through US Customs (farm products, etc.) Are ostrich eggs regularly imported?

    An ostrich egg would take .. forever! .. to do properly. Hope you’re patient.

    I hope that’s an ostrich egg shell, not a once viable egg. Could be an “eww” moment otherwise. :-)
