It was more likely a guy who appeared ‘normal’ on first appearances, but who failed badly on ‘committment’ one way or another.

    Happens.

    Guys have no monopoly.

Men treat women the way they have been treated by women and, yes, women will say the same thing but women get more down right joy playing with men’s affections ! !

But as a general rule, men do have more problems making commitments than women do.

Many men do have commitment problems, but there’s the other extreme: men who let women make all the decisions.

Seriously, Jan. Rena really needs to update her look to 2013, like a new DOO, a dye job and a more fashionable update in her wardrobe instead carrying on with the GRANNY look. Maybe that would be a good start on the dating game

“Sounds more like a Weird Al country-western song.”
Actually, for my own amusement, I once made up a song that resembles “Two-Dollar Pistol.” The germane part said,

I saw him loading parcels at the P. O.,
Muscles ripplin’ like banners in the breeze,
Then he stole the lovin’ heart of poor ole me-
    o,
Chewed it up and spit it out slick as you please!
[Might as well put the chorus]
Oh, I fell in love with a bulk-rate male,
I was happy and proud as can be,
But he took up with a tramp,
    So I hand-canceled his stamp,
And mailed him back to her C. O. D.!
[The name of this marvel is “Bulk-Rate Male.”]
There’s more, but you get the picture. I didn’t quit my day job at the time.]

What is this obsession with Rena’s love life? First of all Val needs to take a good hard look at her own love life. Val needs to be asking these very questions of Phil. Then Phil can place his hand on Val’s shoulder, but in a more tender and loving way, of course. Then nature can take its course. And anyway, Rena might be holding out for Val.

I don’t really like dyed hair and it is just another thing to take time from stuff you WANT to do. I now happen to have my hair growing in a nice shade of grey-blond that is VERY similar to the color I did back when my hair was an ugly darker blonde. I DO apply a little color to lips and cheeks and pencil in some eyebrows (mine are invisible), but I’ve always needed that when I go out.
