That WILL do it along with the fire department and Phil. We never did find out what Alix was yelling “Fire” about

I’ve done that a few times. set a roaring kindling fire and close the doors in front only to have smoke billow out every crack and it’s real hard to reach the handles to open the flue

That wouldn’t make for a good Christmas Alix. Not at all.

It’s a Catch-22. The parents have to wait up until long after midnight before the kids wind down enough to fall asleep so Santa can come – and then the kids are up before dawn wanting to open presents and the parents are zonked out because they’d only had about three hours of sleep by that time.

Any other time and Val has come close to putting a stick of dynamite in their beds to get them up—-especially school days! Happy Holidays to my fellow ‘Stone Soup’ adherents.

In my family, that’s what the filled stockings were for.. It took time to unwrap the fruit and socks and toothbrush stuffing, that it gave a bit of time to the parents!

I was up until 12:30am wrapping gifts, but am still happy to get up with the kiddos, as long as it’s after 7am. Their excitement is worth it. :-)
