Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Kids should be nine when they’re born?
.
Wouldn’t that hurt a lot?

I once had something close to that opinion, because the responsibilities and risks associated with babies scared me. Then I got married.
With the birth of my daughter, the risks and responsibilities did not disappear, but became an acceptable cost of being a father. As my daugher aged, the responsibilites changed as well as the joys.

Easy for him to say. He doesn’t have to squeeze out that 75 pound kid. OUch! That’s gonna leave a mark. (And an echo.)

I honestly don’t think this is going to be a deal breaker. I don’t think Val wants any more kids anyway and if Phil likes older kids, all the better because Val has two of them.

LOL! I always say that if I could give birth to a 2-year-old, I would have had more. I’m not a baby person either…
LOL, MeGoNow!
