Yep, I bet Mom will love to do that stuff just as soon as you start doing the cleaning

What’s wrong w/ Valerie that she can’t delegate some of it to Holly (and Alix)? MY folks always made my brother and me do chores! Oh, wait, that’s considered politically incorrect nowadays isn’t it; making children learn to be responsible… thpppptttt >:-P

I’ve spent weekends lifting heavy trash, doing dishes, dusting, other cleaning work. I even had to rush out to get paper towels when our dog made a horrible mess in the hall. We managed to get the smell out, but we still have to shampoo the carpet where it’s stained.

Now with the “no fail” policy , the kids do not even have to do homework. just enroll in class and you graduate. Attendance is optional, learning if discouraged, and independent thought is forbidden.

My gym classes were a big joke, as far as any physical fitness was concerned. Change clothes in the locker room, stand in line for ten or fifteen minutes waiting to throw a ball at a hoop, then go back into the locker room and try to get showered and changed back into school clothes before the bell for the next class. There was one gym coach, in 9th grade, who tried to get us helping each other doing calisthenics, but only for a couple of weeks. All this was back in 1963-1968. Maybe things have changed.

Looks like her sunny unfounded view of Saturday is about to change forever.

Actually, one CAN love Saturdays, if one CHOOSES to take a break from household chores. It’s all about choice. Yes, she has two daughters to raise.(semi-alone in that, but for Grandma) But, (!) she doesn’t have Max to RAISE. He would be the sole reason she’d be doing housework all the time.
Val has to CHOOSE to not do housework, or lots of housework, on a Saturday. She works five days a week at a job. Why can’t she take a break for a day??

My sister and I had chores before school and after school, plus help clean the house on the weekend. It’s one of the things that I’m thankful that my parents taught us.

Who says the kids aren’t suppose to be doing chores? Holly might’ve conveniently “forgotten” about her’s.
