Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Kids are resilient.
.
Grown-ups, less so.

I think for the sake of hilarity it would have been funnier to have holly go into the public restroom, find a skunk and get sprayed. Max is just too easy.

And then run out screaming into a pile of poison oak

Pity these strips are draw weeks in advance, because your idea is WONDERFUL! (I’m not shouting that, I’m saying it with elation, glee and desire!)

Holly would never let anyone in the family forget…she’s ruin everyone else’s vacation…Max and Alix…just bumps in the enjoyment and makes for a good story years later.

Holly has had poison ivy. It happened when Gramma had all the kids (Val and Phil went to a Jazz concert weekend and Joan and Wally went to a nice beach front cabin). Holly got poison ivy … all over! She set up a nice victims fund through her teen advice column.
Plus, remember, the Stone family hasn’t had a “disaster free” camping trip yet! LOL

Nothing dull about this camping trip…what’s gonna happen next???

Yeh, WHY? We haven’t found the hornet nest yet.

I just got back from a camping trip, all that bad happened was the first night the campground didn’t have an electrical site for the RV, we had to “rough it” with propane inside and a real campfire outside! lol

@scretwitch
How did Holly get poison ivy all over. Did she swim in a patch of it?
We haven’t even gotten to the mites, ticks, chiggers and mosquito bites either.

Vacation ended in “Cul de Sac” today, too. Interesting to see Alice’s reaction and her mom’s response.
