Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Two things dogs will always find in short order, skunks and porcupines.

That’d be a terrible combo: poison oak rash and skunk stink.

Skunks are nocturnal. When a skunk is out during the day it means it’s sick.

Some dogs do learn. Our poodle always went to check out skunks and encourage to leave the yard. Three or four times a year. Our husky learned the first time that skunks do not make good playmates.

I’d say that was a rash decision.

So the dog has both skunk AND poison oak? How will she clean that up?

Max will smell great for a while!

Looks to me like the dog is innocent, and Max, the wild pre-schooler, has just discovered his error in skunk following.

I think Biscuit is running from the smell, judging from her expression.

Sanfans seen your post about how to treat poison ivy/oak.
I will be somewhat scare. I am trying to read gc strips not all of them. Plae we se to live at ages ago there is a creek that had poison ivy I never knew it as I never ventered there a parent’s children then did. I’m taking on-line classes two subjects. One on Sociology and Comp II. I had a few quiz’s already on Comp II. Working on a quiz for Sociology chapter 1.
One of the cat’s onoy been two one is deseased, got tangled with a skunk then insisted on being petted. Horrible.
If one sees a skunk during day time needs to be shot. My sister told me a man working under his truck a skunk came to him and bit him. Skunk dead test positive for rabbies poor man getting shots for rabbies. This happened in a small town.

I think some people may be confusing Max and Biscuit.
The dog is Biscuit. Max is actually Joan’s son (Alix’s cousin). So tomorrow we will be introduced to a literally stinking little boy. Aiieee, indeed!
