Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

The boyfriend is the hard work and adventure. The building part was mundane and tiring.

You know she wouldn’t let the grandma storyline progress with the boyfriend and do stuff in other countries too long because its more fun to have the family dependant on her.

Yes Holly – ssh! We’ll get to THAT later!

I would have expected/preferred Val or Joan to make the comment Holly made in panel 3. Holly is still a child for such a ‘wise’ remark.

Holly is JUST the right age for romantic thoughts … not physical ones, but pure romanticism.

With all those hormones starting to bubble? She’s not all too young. She’s probably learning more stuff from the girl’s locker room than anywhere else, more’s the pity.

Holly a teenager and believe me, some of their closed conversations are pretty surprising.

I’m sure the building part was was hard, mundane, and tiring. Getting to Haiti, seeing the country and meeting the people they were helping were a good part of the adventure. I imagine that seeing the results of all the hard work was pure satifisaction and happiness, and a bit of the adventure. I’ll agree that Arnold was likely the rest of the adventure, but let’s let her have her secets, shall we? For now…
