Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Just in time for Christmas. Didn’t she miss Christmas last year.

@somebodyshort
She’s not going to miss Christmas. She’s going to spend it in the best possible way, exhibiting the real Christmas spirit.

Yes, indeed, that is the true spirit of Christmas.

Oh, yes. And sad to think a comic strip is now putting more into Haiti than many of the charities that claimed to be doing so.
gforgina said, over 1 year ago
Nothing will ever change in Haiti until the wealthier people of Haitian descent living abroad (Montreal, Paris, New York etc.) decide they need to save their own homeland and go there to do it.

Is it in the spirit of Christmas – or just to be with him?

It’s the giving; but what she’ll receive is even better………………….

I don’t know Evie’s age, but she is drawn older than me. I might have done the habitat thing back in my 60’s but I had a full time job and used my vacations just to do those extra things around my own house. I work out with weights etc, mostly to be sure I keep bone density, but I really love my soft bed and the choice between cross ventilation or HVAC. Travel used to be fun back in the 70s and 80s when company sent me on business travel. Now the only thing that will get me on a plane is all 4 of my kids and their families being in one place; I try to get them to come to Phoenix.

And considering the flooding going on now in Thailand he might want to go back soon to Bangcock.

Evie Jewish? I think not. Jan has made a point that Wally is Jewish and the Stone family Christian. That’s why they celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.
snakemama said, over 1 year ago
mixed families sometimes celebrate “Chrismukah” or “Hanumas”. good for evie for going out again to improve the world.

And I say good for Evie, living life to the fullest at her age! Hope I have that drive and spirit when I (if) I get there!
