    I said this last year, and I’ll say it again: no you don’t. August is too darn hot and humid.

    Suburbs are the nurseries of humans as the bayous and wetlands are the nurseries of shrimp and fish.

    This comic treats August like the high point of summer vacation, when, nowadays, it’s the END of summer vacation.

    Nothing wrong with squeezing as much summery goodness out of the season as you can. Especially when it’s winding down.

    This comic should be a post card.

    These are nice moments in time captured in a single frame…. It’s not often a comic strip can do that! Well done, Jan.

    @Banana Slug

    It can be the end, or it can be the beginning, it is all in how you look at it.

    I don’t remember it being this hot back in the 50s and 60s. The summer of 1980 was no picnic either.

    Before anyone says it, DON’T blame the heat on Global Warming since one of the mountains in my area still has snow on its’ top ridges.

    @banana slug Yeah, I’m a teacher and our kids start tomorrow. I only WISH my August looked like this strip!

    Too HOT! We never had temperatures in the 90s F/30sC before the 1990s. Thankfully passing Tropical Storm Emily just gave us a downpour of cooling rains and some wind, even had tree branches in the street. Heat, hurricanes and the back to school rush. However, we do have birthday cake and ice-cream to look forward to on the 28th (DQ cake, maybe?) -Nassau, Bahamas 91oF/32oC

    Summers are too hot and oppressive here on the Gulf of Mexico. 101 F in the shade today. High electric bills with the ongoing threat of rolling black outs! Not in the reality of today. A nice picture good for maybe 20 years ago. But who wants to see that in a comic? Most would say fool me, I get enough reality every day.
