I’m so thankful my kids are grown and I don’t have to do this any more. Nothing seems to make kids more wide awake than bedtime…lol

He needs more activity during the day. Then he’ll be ready for bed.

I remember when my son was about 15 months old, and the crib couldn’t stop him from climbing out. I went to Toys R Us, and bought the tallest, most difficult to climb over doorway gate I could find. That at least kept him confined to his bedroom after we went to bed for the night, until he was old enough for slightly delayed discipline to work.

Do not go gently into that dark night.

“He needs more activity during the day. Then he’ll be ready for bed.”

Max is more active during the day already than anyone can keep up with. He needs activity that’s physically draining without being stimulating in any way. Teach him the “Pushing Boulders Uphill” game, or the “Dig a Ditch, Fill It Up, Dig It Again” game.

Why should toddlers have it any better than the rest of us?

    Happy National Cartoonists Day!

@Fairportfan2 - I have 2 kids, ages 7 and 4, one of which is very active and wears me out most days. They are ready to go to bed at night and stay there all night sleeping. What I was talking about was similar to what fritzoid described. For example, it’s my active one’s job to get whatever is needed on another floor in the house.

Bolt the door, Joan, or give Max a child-safe sleeping pill.
