Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Methinks she hit that nail right on the head. Just a hunch…

Sure it’s not, Val.

Val pays the price for over burdening her mother.

I don’t think it’s Val’s fault. Grandma just wants to do something where she feels alive and excited. But Val does realize how it’ll affect her.

They haven’t said yet how long she’ll be gone. It’s good for her to have these periodic trips so she can broaden her horizons.

Ahem- Joan? It flows downhill?
YOU are to be the designated babysitter.
Rmom said, about 1 month ago
Not a bad idea, eieio2. Joan can supervise Alex & Holly while THEY take care of Luci & Max.

Good babysitters are hard to find. Especially if they work at the wage Val’s and Joan’s mother charges.

Alex can help with the girls, although I don’t know if Holly will like it.
I would like to go on vacation but pt only paid for working and too many bills.
