   Great time for a lesson Mom, have her do some research on how much an apartment with everything she has now costs per month. How much she needs for just the basics of food clothes ect. Then have her “look” for a job that would pay her enough for all that and the school requirements for the job. Should get her to buckle down on school work for at least a week.

   I’m reminded of the conversation between Theo and Cliff in the first episode of the Bill Cosby show. Theo was getting poor grades and said he wanted to be just an average person when he grew up, not a professional. Cliff showed him how much it would cost him just to live. Theo decided maybe he’d better try harder in school.

   Macushlalondra, I love that episode. It should be mandatory watching for kids. I remember one of my brother’s girlfriends, who had just gotten a job and was looking at apartments, told me “Rent is X, and then I’ll have all the remaining money for clothes!” I replied, hmmm, so you aren’t planning to eat, have electricity, insurance, water, a car, etc.”? She looked at me like I was from Mars.

   Her move away from home didn’t last long. And my brother didn’t marry her.

   Bill Cosby shows are still running on some channels. Mr. Cosby has and still has great points on his talks with kids.
   Our son did the same thing only we weren’t there when he decided he was old enough to move out and move in with someone else in another city with no job. This did not last long until they made him leave 1st of the year. He could not get a job. There was one locally he lost out on one. We tried to explain as well and he was very determined.

    My dad and I had a conversation when I was about sixteen. He said He’d support me until I was eighteen, or twenty-two if I went to college. After that I had six months to find a job and move out. If I didn’t, he’d throw me out whether or not I had a job or a place to live or not. He showed me his will, which specified that I had to be a college graduate or four years of military service or have five continuous years in a job AND no arrest record to get my share of the estate. Now I have a PhD and a seven-figure 401K!

    If you’re on Windows, you can use the Character Map (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map) to insert diacritical marks, such as:
    touché

    I’m sure there’s something similar for Macs. There may even be an easier way to do it in Windows, but I don’t need the capability often enough to go looking for a different way.

    Except that that doesn’t always work, depending on character encodings used.

    Fairportfan & sean bernard, besides, Alt-138 is the wrong accent, at least for touché. You want Alt-130. There was a Night Court episode where someone gave Judge Stone something supposedly signed by his hero, Mel Tormé; it was actually a forged signature, and they used the è accent. Mel TorMUH?! Harry liked Mel TorMAY!
