Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

He brought it up explicitly a couple of months ago. She said “no”.

Why DOES that dog have two tails?
barbaricpenguin said, 3 months ago
The dog has two tails because it is wagging the tail so fast you see multiples.
crazyolnick said, 3 months ago
You’re all crazy…The dog has but one tail. It is forked like that of a fish. in the event of one that got away, said dog can retrive it much in the same manner of retriving game birds…Or,just maybe it’s the dreaded “Twin Tailed Terrier”….

Yes, Phil should Sweep Val off her feet in the moon light, at night, under the stars in the woods with a blanket and bottle of wine……sheesh I better stop eating quiche.

Hope he has no bait so a fish doesn’t disturb him
harebell said, 3 months ago
comicsnoob, to be really prepared he’d better bring the mosquito repellent, they’re really biting this month!

lewreader. When my son was small he enjoyed fishing. He wasn’t old enough to bait the hook, heck he didn’t know that you were supposed to. He just hung the bare hook in the water, still caught fish.

Biscuit’s a good little dog. Twice the tails means twice the wags!

comicsnoob Reminds me of Non Sequitur and the dogs got loose with Brenda and Joe out looking by moonlight and Brenda said that moonlight illuminates male cluelessnes.
farren Their last date as they’re standing on the front step Val told Phil that if he was living there he’d be home now. I’m a deep down romantic at heart and believe that the man should grab his courage and propose. Take the risk and make it special. When the time is right I know how I’m going to do it and catch her completely by surprise. I don’t care what her answer is or if she ever answers.

Fake picture - fishing and no beer? (There was a great “Mr. Boffo” joke, by Joe Martin - two cavemen standing by a prehistoric boat - the bottom caption says “The Origin of Fishing, and The First Two Fishermen”, and one cave man says to the other, “I HAVE to be doing SOMETHING, my wife won’t let me just sit out in a boat and drink beer all day”.)

Ushi,
From the look on Wally’s face, the beer is in the belly.
