Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

I don’t see any difference either but she’s happy with it.

As long as it gives us an emotional lift, sometimes that’s all we need.

Whether there is any real change or not, getting an emotional lift usually does make you more attractive

I see a definite difference in her hair. Not an enormous one, but it’s there. Before, she just had bangs. Now there’s a circle of short hair at the top. (Not knowing the names for the different styles doesn’t help me.)
Also, before her hair was cut evenly all round at the bottom - at the base of her neck. Now there’s a kind of fringe at the back.
And the attention from Simon is definitely not visible in her hair - it’s a kind of glow on her face. It makes a big difference!
