Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

ejcapulet: you live in China? you’re a lot braver than me! What city do you live in?
I sure do, I live in Wuxi, it’s refered to in travel guides as “a medium-sized industrial city with big roads” so it’s not exactly a pretty place and there aren’t a lot of other expatriates, but it’s right next to Shanghai, so the shopping is wonderful.

bluetopazcrystal responded to yesterday’s strip “Two words that will wreck summer are ‘Summer School’–even if it is at home; that may be her problem.”
That’s true currently, but there is a way to “squeeze some juice from this lemon”–she can do an essay for Grandma and ask it to counted for extra-credits!

Hey ejcapulet!
I’m in China too. Small place called Dandong in the north close to North Korea.

@bosslove67 Great avatar! Took my eyes a few seconds to sort it out, but it’s really good. Did you draw it?
And what are you and ejcapulet doing over there? ESL?
dicatduke said, 4 months ago
to ejcapulet: wow, Shanghhai sounds beautiful. is it? I bet the shopping is fun! how long have you been there? I live in the midwest

I guess that Holly will grow up into one of those “Body by God Brains by Matel Girl.”

mfcoace: I’m blonde myself, and I thought I knew all the “blonde” jokes, but I don’t know what your coment means. Enlighten me, please?
CoBass said, 4 months ago
AbbieT: Re: “Blond to the roots”. Just guessing here, but maybe it means something like “Really and truly dumb, not just faking it”.
