Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

This is the best educational experience Holly could possibly get, and just barely in time.

You tell her grandma. After all you could be doing something else with your time too. I hope you learn something from this Holly.

Sorry Holly, the only time you get to skimp on homework is if you’re one of the few individuals who both likes and is good at tests.
…even then the teachers are still banging their heads against a wall…

Holly will probably learn more from Grandma than in school it self.

Holly will learn more and then thank grandma in the end. ( i think) grandma has this way of being able to get what she wants and i think she can scare the socks off of holly if need be. lol

Grandma should give Holly the choice: Do this now or repeat the grade next year. Of course all Holly’s friends will be in high school in a year while she;s still in middle school…

My mother always told me “If you don’t have time to do it RIGHT, then you will probably have to MAKE time to do it OVER.” She was right….

Why should a student try? The Niagara Falls NY high school has eliminated the honor of valedictorian & salutatorian and given them to ALL the graduates. They don’t want to hurt anyones feelings! This is pure BS. And people wonder why we are turning into a 3rd world country. Maybe we should pass everyone no mater what their grades, then the system could say everyone passed, 100% graduation rate, give us more money.

Thank Heavens for school sports! They have to keep their grades up [in small schools, anyway] in order to play! Volleyball, then basketball, then track & field .. .. next, school’s out!
