Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

No wonder I never go to the movies anymore.

Sounds like she’s describing the Laura Croft movies.
Oh, wait - she said “interesting plot.” Oh well, pretty close…

Don’t forget, “While dancing backwards”

“Madea Goes to Jail” would be good.

Val’s plot has already been done, albeit on TV… Lynda Carter’s “Wonder Woman” - complete with plenty of cleavage.

This reminded me of a classic DTWOF strip by Alison Bechdel: http://dykestowatchoutfor.com/the-rule

anyone ever seen Star Trek Voyager? Capt. Janeway fits the part without the heels etc.

Actually I think the movie “Contact” starring Jodie Foster fits the bill. Didn’t need the miniskirt, heels or cleavage either to gross over $100M at the box office either!
