Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

There’s a reason I only use cash - and that’s it.

And THIS at tax-time yet!! - (I’m entering 7 months of the wife’s check book to the “money” program this morning - and am afraid there’s not enough ‘Captain Morgan’s’ in the house! … Did ya’all know tuesday follows wednesday except when there’s no pay check that week, then Friday is Monday, thursday is shopping, and saturday is given the day off?)

I’m with AssOfDoom with the on line banking. Best thing since God made little green apples.

I agree, I have been totally online since I got a computer. Don’t have paper statements to store and can check balances any time. End of year can get a list of transactions and print to store with taxes. I highlight deductibles and store with returns.

Back in the days before computers I was fond of the ESP entry in the checkbook. If my balance didn’t reconcile with the bank statement it was an Error-Some-Place.

This is wonderful … I am on
Joan’s side, she makes perfect
sense. Why compound the frustration we already have.

Then there’s always duplicate checks!!! I hate to use a check register, when I had to take over doing the bills for my Dad, I couldn’t even read his writing in his check register it was so horrible!! And I can make out bad Doctor scribble!!
