Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Or, more accurately, in a place which makes the recipient (Val) happy!

My Dad simply never opens the email program at all at work. (he told me) He says if they want him bad enough they will come find him.

Most people around my office (including me) prefer the email to constant interruptions by people and phone calls. I only walk or call when it’s to complicated to type out the problem or I need an answer now.

People who work for me either answer their email or they don’t work for long.

Where I’m employed we are required to check our email first thing. Most of our communication is on line. Works well.
