Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Enough already!

No, not enough! Keep it going until the end of August. I never go camping and this way I can vicariously enjoy without the bugs or the outhouses.

… some of us have started school already, so while I do enjoy this comic, this thread isn’t doing it for me!

Hi, iam writing this to you Jpuzzlewhiz if you don;t LIKE THIS COMIC THEN DON’T READ IT, ITS THAT SIMPLE. I FOR ONE LIKE THE MONTH OF AUGUST.i live in the northeast and we have it cold for 8months out of the year. and by the way you can shove it up your you know WHAT.Every time i read your emails you never say anything nice about a comic strip.you have made fun of for better or worst.you sound like a unhappy person or do you write these emails just to shake everyone up with your emails.

This strip has hit a new low!!!

I live in the northeast and I loathe August almost as much as I loath this strip. Stone soup offers nothing new. I mean Jeez, a year or so ago they brought a baby into the strip. How many times has THAT been done before. I Jan Eliot loves August because that is the month where writing takes a break in this strip. Bah!

I’ve been enjoying it. While the real life August here offers nothing pleasant, Jan Eliot gives us the ideal. It’s great.

she’s also giving us insight into each of her characters. It’s not just about August. It’s about what each person loves about life! Keep it going, Jan!

Dear JPuzzleWhiz, awfulart and Cpiz
I don’t see anyone pointing a gun to your head and telling you to follow the strip. If you do, maybe your biggest problem isn’t daily comic strip quality.
Maybe it’s me, but it doesn’t take me a year to realize that I don’t like a comic strip and stop following it. Why don’t you take a break from this strip and try something intellectual like “Brenda Starr”?
