Stone Soup by Jan Eliot
Stone Soup addresses modern families who don’t quite fit into the old version of the perfect family (mom, dad, 2.5 kids and a white picket fence). Through her characters, creator Jan Eliot explores themes involving a 10-year-old tom-boy, a 13-year-old self-absorbed drama queen, an opinionated grandmother, aggravated sisters (of all ages), a single parent in an unsympathetic workplace, a work-at-home mom, women venturing into complicated romances, and every other frustration and joy that comes from a house of chaos such as this.

Brilliant! Psychologists and advertisers, who often are one and the same, craft broadcasts to function as modems. The flashes and noises and narratives are designed to override our volition, to push our buttons. We’re being played–not like instruments of the Divine, but as porno-pinball machines.
