I’m grateful to them. Running up that deficit is what staved off worldwide economic collapse. Krugman nails it here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/28/opinion/28krugman.html

Grateful? just wait for the inflation to kick in. Or the devalueing of our currency.

mmm copper, what we are doing now just keeps getting us deeper in dept and not the least bit better. But according to Obama if we spend more unemployment will not go above 8% . And we can believe him because we are looking to adopt socialist policies like they have in Europe and elsewhere and their unemployeement and deficit is..well higher then ours.
A better way you might ask?
    FAIR TAX!

I think I will rather go along with Krugman (read his column a few days ago. Yep, bookmarked years ago. He’s cool).

When “W” throws a war, he doesn’t pay for it. When “W” plans for education, he doesn’t pay for it. When “W’s” friends on Wall Street finally get caught, “W” gives them $Ts of our money, but doesn’t pay for it. When “W” turns over a broken government with a broken economy, he dared his successor to put his “bill” on the BUSH tab. Now we have to pay for him!!!

ANandy and nomad didn’t get a dime from the beast with the seven horns. Now they want their babies to pay them!!

Why is it that there are no politicians trying to make it sexy and cool to have a balanced budget and go debt-free?

It can be done, you know. The cool thing to do now is complain about gasoline for crying out loud!!!!!!

Really? You mean it is not one of the few things laid out as a part and power of the government? One of the few things it does right. By your take on things I guess you want to throw our prison system in that statement of yours?

So Harley, the government is efficient at killing people. Got it!

War for poopies was your former president’s idea. No wait! He PAID the Taliban to NOT grow them.

He also started this war. I guess that’s what the W. stands for.

Don’t forget he also gave money to North Korea to stop their nuclear testing (PSYCHE!).

And since you’re a supporter of corporate welfare why not spare the banks another trillion? They could sure use the help.

He paid BCS and he inheritied a declining economy also. As said lotsa times Presidents are not totally responsible for spending–Congress shoulders most the blame but it is convenient for Obama voters to continue to say it is Bush’s fault.
    Economies are like climate–cyclical.

  17. fennec

    fennec said, 2 months ago

Cyclical is fine, but the US has been living on the efforts and resources of the rest of the world. The bill is coming due.

  18. believecommonsense

    believecommonsenseGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

Howie, ”he paid BCS and he inherited a declining economy also”

are you referring to Bush? if you’re suggesting Bush paid for the Iraq war, that’s not accurate. The costs for Afghanistan and Iraq wars were kept off the books by Bush, they were reported separately but kept off numbers for deficits (the totals were only added to national debt, not annual deficits).

Obama put them back in on an ongoing basis, which makes a year by year comparison like comparing apples and oranges.

I’ve heard others say Bush inherited a bad economy, but if that’s true it could be no more than hiccup, no where near the meltdown of 2008. We haven’t seen anything like this economy since the Great Depression according to experts, including those of a conservative bent.

As I’ve said before, one has to talk about Bush’s actions and some Clinton actions to put the economic meltdown and recession in order.

Nonetheless, I understand the point you make about faulting Bush and bringing him up in discussions about problems. So the point would be to discern when it is accurate and justifiable and when it is not.
The same applies to those who fault Obama for everything.

????Cyclical is fine, but the US has been living on the efforts and resources of the rest of the world. The bill is coming due.???
Why do you Hate America fennec?
How? by providing the freest most productive country this world has ever seen! The USA has done more in it’s short history for this Planet then any other country on the Planet!
But I guess you have agree with the Prez wife and it took electing a black man for her to be proud.

“He also started this war. I guess that’s what the W. stands for.”
Hey D according to the 9/11 commission The terrorist were at war with us while billy boy was working on his fly in the oval office. So why don’t we just rename everything and stick our heads back in the sand because the big O does not want the bad press.

Hey Harley you forgot to mention that while bubba was getting blown he called up the incoming president and told him that Bin Laden determined to strike at the U.S.

Then that pasty brit Tony Blair gave him a call and told him the same thing.

Even that commie Pudin called him up and told him “hey comrade Bin Laden is coming.”

And what did he do? NOTHING!

  22. churchillwasright

    churchillwasright said, 2 months ago

^ And what would you have had Bush do? Close every large office building (and the Pentagon and Capital) for a year or two? Pay “special attention” to Muslims in general and at airports in specific (the ACLU would have been fine with that) for a couple of years? Halt all domestic and international flights both in and out of the US until Bin Laden was captured? (Oh that’s right, Clinton was handed him on a silver platter but didn’t think there was enough legal cause to take him). There was no specific, actionable intelligence in those memos. The public, and people like you, would have thought him a paranoid nut!

    Stop rewritting history!

  23. oldlegodad

    oldlegodadGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

  24. d_legendary1

    d_legendary1 said, 2 months ago

I don’t know what history you’re thinking I’m rewriting, but unlike you I don’t have a short memory.

Instead of declaring stupid things like shut the government down (even though its what you guys want) he should have just let the Taliban hand him over since they were wiling to help. As a matter of fact the entire Muslim world was at our side except for the extremist like Hamas, who at that time after 9/11 were aired passing out candy and cake to celebrate our worst day since Pearl Harbor. I should say the nation of Islam condemned the attacks saying that they would do what ever it takes to bring the perpetrators to justice. Instead, your former president started dropping bombs in Afghanistan making them question if we really deserved to be attacked.

So if a bunch of nations, even those that can’t stand you are telling you someone is coming you’re not gonna do anything because you think they are full of cra,p? That’s like receiving several death threats and playing it off as a joke. Why you guys on the right keep defending this butcher is beyond me.

  25. churchillwasright

    churchillwasright said, 2 months ago

^You didn’t rebut one point that I made. But you did add two new pieces of BS: that the entire Muslim world except Hamas was on our side after 9/11 and that we should have left it to the Nation of Islam to bring the perpetrators to justice.

    You are a fool.

Well, how about study up on bin Laden, listen the anit-terrorism group Clinton founded instead of ignoring it, and formulating some sensibly heightened airport security such as requiring reinforced cockpit doors and banning box cutters?

How ‘bout doing /something/ other than waiting around until it’s time to read My Pet Goat? Foolish is in the eye of the beholder.

Leve it to a guy named Churchill to ignore reality. You really do live up to your namesake!

The 9/11 commission had this intel and your predecessor choose to ignore it. The F.B.I. and C.I.A. both knew of this and reported it and NOTHING was done. Thanks to the freedom of information act all these facts can be reviewed.

But since you choose to live in a fantasy world where facts do not apply to your arguments and instead resort to name calling there is no reasoning with someone who is out of touch with reality.

    I pity you sir.
