    Of for gawds’ sake, let’s just give up. Everything. Forget anything or any effort to improve our collective lives. Shut the government down. Stop sending kids to school. Disband the police and fire departments. Turn off the sewers. Let corporations dump toxic crap into the water system, hell, the execs have the money to get their own drinking water, no that it turns the rest of us into mutants. Oh, and let’s just sign our lives over to the nearest corporation as indentured servants.

    Yes, then we will be living in paradise.

    Not at all. Just recognize that there are some things that government can not and should not do.

    Yep. Healthcare.gov is a phishing site as far as I’m concerned. I’m never going there!

    I’ve been thinking along the same lines. You will never hear liberals, that are constantly complaining that simply showing ID in order to vote is voter suppression make the same complaints about Obamacare. The first thing healthcare.gov asks you for (assuming you can get this far on the website) is your Social Security #. Where are the bleeding-hearts moaning that the poor don’t have SS#s? That the effort to get one is onerous? That they may have to travel hundreds of miles and spend some money to get documents that prove they are eligible for one? Then there’s the whole computer thing— the poor don’t have one. They’ll have to travel to a library. They’ll have to produce identification to get a library card… The whole process is racist, I tell ’ya…

    I am in agreement with you and reason is the reason. Reason , or logic however has little to do with the liberal thought process! Everyone gets a SSN at birth , we all agree on this but admittedly it is not a picture I.D. – So why oppose using picture I.D,s – the only logical reason is for political gain . To allow people who should not be allowed to vote – the chance to vote. You need a picture I.D. to check into a motel , purchase booze or RX’s, open a bank account , cash a check, why not voting! Because that would disenfranchise the illegal and criminal element of the democrat base – plain and simple!

    @David

    First, one of the typical arguments against voter ID is that it disenfranchises those not born in hospitals and that were born in during an era or in a region where getting a birth certificate wasn’t necessarily the norm. I doubt those people were issued a Social Security card at birth.

    Second, I was born in NYC in the very late 50s. I did not receive a social security card at birth. I applied for one when I got my “working papers” in my teens.

    Oh, and by the way, I continue to show my SS card as proof of my eligibility to lawfully work in the US, not only to prospective employers, but to employment agencies, so you’re incorrect when you say “there’’s no purpose to it”.

    In other words, your entire post is a FAIL.

    EDIT:
    “Before 1986, people often did not obtain a Social Security number until the age of about 14, since the numbers were used for income tracking purposes, and those under that age seldom had substantial income.[citation needed] The Tax Reform Act of 1986 required parents to list Social Security numbers for each dependent over the age of 5 for whom the parent wanted to claim a tax deduction.” ~ Wikipedia

    So it is only those in their late 20s and younger who were issued SS Cards around the time of their birth. This is hardly the demographic the left claims are unable to obtain ID because it is too onerous.

    Gore Bane; from the report just on CNN about Facebook, Google, Twitter, and several others just getting hacked for folks passwords etc, too bad the whole industry hires folks without that “second year” education???

    Hacking may be the number one hobby for geeks and crooks, today, and it keeps everyone from minor retailers to the largest sites, and ALL countries military systems hopping, and nervous.
