For more than two decades, political cartoonist Steve Kelley has devoted his attention to public officials the way the radiator grille of a tractor-trailer might devote its attention to June bugs. He has delighted readers by consistently consigning office-holders to the one fate they fear most: that of not being taken seriously.

There’s no tragedy so great that politicians won’t stoop to exploit it.

I have long suspected that Harry Reid belonged in the same category as Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich. This latest statement has finally convinced me that he does.

I agree.
But Reid is only one of many disgraces to America in Congress….and what does that make the Voters who put them in office??? A disgrace to the Right to Vote! (assuming No Vote Fraud)

“Where is your support, liberal lasses? You jump to his defense for years.”
I can only speak for myself. I have only called two politicians names, and one of them is Mr. Reid, who I called an “idiot” on these pages.
A bad legislator is a bad legislator, regardless of party affiliation. I look forward to your adopting the same attitude.
Mr. Reid was eminently beatable in the last election; alas, his opponent was Sharron Angle. Need I say more?

“Yes; blame the voters like you liberal lasses blame Bush for everything.”
You are quite the puzzle. You blame Obama for many things. You blame the 47%. You blame the “takers”. My point is that if we elect bad legislators and presidents, regardless of party, we deserve what we get. But you had to get a dig in.
You call people names and your tone is often ugly. You often make sweeping generalizations based primarily on your dislike for a particular point of view or even the way it was presented.
It is peculiar that King of Me disappeared, yet you are still here. More power to you.
I would like to suggest, however, that you will be much more convincing if you stop being condescending. But this being America, you are free to show whatever side you choose. Unless, of course, you’re King of Me.

You say “we deserve what we get”. We don’t deserve shit government. What we have is called soft tyranny. Google it and get an education.

I would say it is you who needs an education. The only reason why a politician gets elected is because a majority of the voters voted for that politician. There are a myriad of reasons why, but in nearly every national election there are at least two candidates. And the people chose. Like with the last four Presidential elections, there were no true good choices, only the lesser of two bad choices. President Obama has not shown to be a good president, just a better choice than the two opponents. But he is who the people chose. And even though the people were given two bad options, they had the control back in the primaries to select someone different, only hey didn’t. So no matter what fancy term you wish to use to redirect attention away, the truth remains the same, we the people get exactly who we vote for. We deserve better, but we won’t demand better, it’s easier to simply listen to the attack ads and not have to do any real work to find out who the candidates truly are. So yes, we deserve who we get.

Harry Reid is a doddering old fool and needs to retire. How he keeps getting elected is beyond me.
