Congress can take a week off every other week, and it’s okay because they’re Republicans. If the president plays golf, he’s a socialist. You know how they are about golf.

Here we go again with the gas price thing. Do political cartoonists think that the president sits at his desk and inputs gas prices into the Internets or something?

Boehner plays much more golf than Obama does. According to, his handicap is under 8.

There are over 25 million golfers in this country. I see no reason to care if one of them is the President. There are many perks to being President, but freedom of movement isn’t one of them. Let him have the illusion of that freedom once in a while.

“……..Think the main reason for the “blackout” is Barry did not want the public to see him with that dirtbag, Woods………”
I doubt if “Barry” sees himself as being the litigator of professional athlete’s morality.

Yeah, silly right? Wait, they say he paid for the trip , well minus the 180K an hour to fly him there and back and the cost of the SS detail ( which we would pay for anyway) And then there is the additional cost of his wife’s separate vacation on the slopes. All the while he is “looking out for the common guy” and striving to save money by avoiding the sequester (which would indeed cut spending a tad), a political ploy put in place with his approval and backing, one which he said he would “veto any attempt to block going into effect”.

NOpe can’t equate them. Drinking water in response to a natural body reaction to stress and being pilloried for it is not the same.

The Nation is trying to cut expenses. Should the LEADER of the country set the example?

Hahahaha – what a card you are.

Come on be serious and answer the question. AS the “Leader of the Free World” (what a joke that is) should he actually set the example and actually “sacrifice” as he says we all must do?

“………It’s a good question though, why didn’t Barry want photographs of them together?…..”
If the implication is that “Barry” did not want pictures of them together because of Tiger’s philandering, its one of the dumbest questions you can imagine. It was public knowledge they were golfing together. I think the American public is smart enough to draw the conclusion that they were together. If I’m wrong, please correct.

“…….But he’s NOT TOO BUSY to play golf every chance he gets…….”
I doubt Obama plays golf every chance he gets. He plays about half as much as Eisenhower did, and Ike was a pretty effective Republican president.
Bush was criticized for his golf only when he brushed off a question about global terrorism with the statement, “Thank you. Now watch this drive.” Appears after the criticism, he thought he’d better give up the game because of the optics.

Bush couldn’t make par in Afghanistan, so he took a Mulligan in Iraq, then started cutting brush in Texas instead of playing golf, to “honor the troops”, right.

Such sarcasm. And here I hoped for an intelligent response. You are the educator after all.

So yes, the guy needs to relax. And even I like to play golf. While I was working I even had two weeks paid vacation every year. And a couple of “personal days” I could take as I saw fit. Yep. Just like the majority of middle class worker bees. The same people Obama is asking to do a little belt tightening and “share” some sacrifice for the good of the country.

Meanwhile, his highness manages to play regular golf, has the ability to send his children to foreign nations for spring break, let’s his wife take the company jet to europe with some friends for a little vacation, takes the company helicopter out on a “date night” with the missus, has many parties with his buds from hollywood in the people’s house with great food and entertainment for all, takes a "christmas vacation home (Ok I get it) but then takes both of the planes comes back to DC and then returns and NOW he wants to play golf in Fla (what no golf course in the hood?) get some lessons at a sweet thousand and hour and then play a round with the Tiger but his bride wants to ski. No problem take the “other” jet dear, have fun. And most of that we the people pick up the tab.

I see a man that is so out of touch with the rest of us. He expects us to do what he will not even consider. Sacrifice. Conserve resources. Budget of funds. Nope, after all he IS the president. But you and he forget>

Presidents taking time off is NOTHING NEW. I don’t want to get into an argument over who took more time off, or how much it cost. It doesn’t matter. Due to the necessary security, it costs a lot of money for any President or VP to vacation. I don’t care whether it was Reagan chopping wood in Santa Barbara, W taking every August as a “working vacation” in Texas, or Obama playing golf. Ross Perot, during his 1992 campaign, pointed out that Dan Quayle, while he was VP, took his family skiing in Colorado, and the Secret Service had to train agents to ski in circles around them as they were going down the slopes.
Let’s focus on the real problems.

The real problem is conservatives who not only complain about a president who takes about a third as many vacation days as their golden boy, but about intelligence failures that resulted in four deaths when the intelligence failures under their own golden boy killed over 7,000 Americans.

    @M Ster

And yet, you (and TJ) overlook the larger picture.

Yes (again and for the last time) people need to take a break (even the president) from the rat race. However, when the current ongoing battle in
DC is the dire need to avoid a government shutdown due to lack of “borrowing” power and the debate is focused on diverting funds from programs that effect the most needy in our country in order to “reduce” deficit spending – not even eliminate it just slow excess spending down a tad – then the President must spend yet another million or so sending his wife to the slopes and taking his break in Fla so he can get more training in his golf game on our dime (well mostly) after continually advocating “sacrifice” and “paying a fair share” for the rest of us, it just shows he is NOT concerned about the money.

He can play golf in DC for 50-100 bucks in green fees which he can damn well pay himself.

Or, he can forego the golf vacation and go skiing with the rest of the clan and have just the one bill for flights and SS for us to cover.

    You know, “sacrifice”.

But those things don’t apply to him.

So to you I was asking the original question because I didn’t know the answer. Never ask a question you don;t know the answer to. (or at least think you do)

    you’re over thinking this exchange.
