The old, obsolete biathlon had people trying to ski and shoot.

The new, improved version is to see who can ski fastest around a course of IEDs while being shot at. I think it will be much more exciting, and a more challenging sport.

    Progress. Ain’t it wonderful?

Okay, it’s Russia, if they don’t do enough for security, they’re wrong. If they do too much for security, they’re wrong. If anything “happens” they’re wrong. If nothing happens?? Right someone will give “W” the credit.

‘W’ has been off the scene for how many years now? Please find a new whipping boy.

You have an interesting point about Russia however. Thanks.

No they blamed Mitt when he asked a legit comment about security. The loony liberals ran with that.

It’s that shape. Before the movies nobody would’ve associated it with Thor. But now it’s the first thing to come to mind. I LOVED “The Avengers” and can’t wait for the sequel…

My comment on “W” is only relative to the fact that so many “baggers” and ‘conservatives" say it is “W”’s actions alone that have prevented the U.S. from having a repeat of 9/11 since 2001. Hmm, the same ones that say gun ownership and ease of access had nothing to do with the Colorado, Tucson, or other mass shootings…

I too thought of Thor’s hammer. I like Jack Kirby’s version of it.

Sadly, since the olympics are in Russia no one will be asking for political asylum like when it comes to America.

    Ironic isn’t it?
And remember when Russia and Stalin could do no wrong in the Liberals eyes and editorials. Anyone remember when Clinton sent the Cuban boy back to Cuba and the Lib on O’reilly opined he was safer there?. Even though he would learn to field strip an AK -47 and call Castro, Pappa?

Not really ironic. Seeking asylum during the Olympics isn’t unheard of where it has been staged in other countries; even in China.

Missing Athletes Join Long List Of Olympic Defectors.

London 2012: Seven competitors from Cameroon have gone missing in London
“What I found interesting is one of them, Thomas Essomba, had tried to defect four years ago, in Beijing. In fact, he did spend some time in China; found that economic prospects weren’t too good there, not to mention the political prospects. He returned to Cameroon. They sent him to a second Olympics, and now he’s disappeared again.”

London 1948 Olympics: Marie Provaznikova…defect[ed] to the United States…granted

    Melbourne 1956: 3 dozen Hungarians

    Munich 1972 :117 athletes defected

Montreal 1976: “Fewer defections” (well, 117 was quite a number in ‘72)

Seeking asylum [in the USA] isn’t exceptional, it’s the norm. Who knows, perhaps someone from somewhere will think Russia is better than where they are now.
    Like Edward Snowden.

^Hmm, how many Mexican or Honduran athletes would be granted asylum in the U.S. today???

…alas, Trout, the UK is currently going thru’ its own little mini-hysteria about immigration at the moment. It won’t grant asylum to Syrians for instance…

Between 50 and 300 Mexicans are granted asylum in the US each year. I’m sure someone has to have been an athlete.

(couldn’t find the number on Hondurans)
