You could have left off the “…care” part.

The curse of Obama works just fine.

But now that we have career politicians who don’t care about the nation and simply want to buy the votes to keep them in office and a president who violates the law and the constitution on a daily basis, we have the banana republic.

One of the advantages of a parliamentary form of government is that the executive and the legislative are from the same party. Thus, legislation is usually quicker and easier to pass. The ruling party gets to govern and if you disagree you get to vote them out the next election. In the presidential form of government, the executive and the legislature are often from different parties and stalemate too frequently occurs. In fact there may be incentive to prevent good legislation so as to make the executive look bad. I read somewhere that countries with parliamentary forms of government came through the recession in better shape than countries with a presidential form. I don’t know if that’s true, I think its possible in a general way.

One thing you can say about the American form of presidential government – its good for media ratings.

Then, under a Parliament, the prohibition disaster would never have happened….
And how many other legislative wrong turns. ??
    The Patriot Act. ??

Nothing much will change until our congress will be forced to consider a bill without being able to attach totally unrelated items to it.

Actually, the original quote may have been made up. See Here

    Heinlein’s version is more amusing…

As this is a quote Heinlein never made, it serves as an example of your other sources.

Then why DrCanuck is Obama changing the law unilaterally and giving out waivers in violation of it?

Both Bin Laden and the CIA “held accounts in the Bank for Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).” “Bin Laden worked especially closely with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar” who Gibbs calls “the CIA’s favored Mujahiddin commander”. Gibbs quotes Le Monde as saying bin Laden was “recruited by the CIA” in 1979, Associated Press as saying a former bin Laden aide told them that in 1989 the U.S. shipped high-powered sniper rifles to a Mujahiddin faction that included bin Laden,58 and Jane’s Intelligence Review as stating Bin Laden “worked in close association with U.S. agents” in raising money for the Mujahiddin from “vast family connections” near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Seems to me that a lot of you Righties are missing the fact that Breen has the Capitol, not the White House, in this ‘toon. It also seems to me that you’ve missed the number of more conservative cartoonists and pundits who are appalled at the Tea Party antics. If Michael Gerson thinks you need a reality check, you should really pay attention. And he’s not the only one saying that.
