Lady Liberty wouldn’t participate in data mining. Lady Justice might, if it was done the way it is supposed to be done with all three branches of gov’t and particularly the FISC involved. But Lady Justice has been abused before, and we, as citizens and neighbors, must be vigilant to protect Liberty AND Justice from those who believe ends justify means.
    Respectfully,

Unfortunately, people today are willing to give up liberty for security. That means that we will have neither.

Lets just say for arguments sake that Obama suddenly shuts down FISA. No more datamining & we are then hit with another 911 terrorist attack. Who do you think is then going to get the blame for not protecting America ? It’s a double edged sword but I’m willing to bet if the GOP was in the White House today the rightwing would be praising the President for keeping us safe.

Nothing to worry about, provided that you are not doing anything wrong..

Agree with Dycel. Watching “events” in this degeneration over the last three decades, from inside, and outside the government, with mere access to real facts most in the pubic weren’t aware of, or didn’t pay attention to, or care about , wasn’t “secret”, or “special knowledge”, it was just awareness. To see “reality” twisted beyond recognition by “conservatives” blaming “government” for all problems, as they turned the nation over to corporate interests, in nearly every agency of government, and building more, to serve or be run by the “corporate world”, was disturbing, to say the least.

Aschroft perhaps best symbolized the whole situation when he hid “Lady Justice” behind a blue curtain, while they continued to keep(divert) the nation’s interest on a blue dress.

" If you then tell the American people that you’re not looking at personal information in the process when that’s anything but the truth,…"

There is a thing called a National Security Letter that the FBI and NSA use to obtain personal information from Google, Facebook, etc. These are warrantless searches used to obtain personal, confidential information about individuals. No court approval is required and disclosing them is not permitted. Between 2003 and 2012 there were 304,862 of these NSL’s issued.

If you read somewhere that the government claimed that they are not looking for personal information, the government is lying through its teeth and other body orifices.

“The Fourth Amendment is clear; we should be secure in our persons, houses, papers, and effects, and all warrants must have probable cause. Today the government operates largely in secret, while seeking to know everything about our private lives – without probable cause and without a warrant. The government does not need to know more about what we are doing. We need to know more about what the government is doing.” ~ Ron Paul

    Ha!
How many are in Guantanamo right now who did nothing wrong? How many Americans have been executed for crimes they did not commit? How many served long sentences only to be finally exonerated by DNA evidence? How about the guy who reached for his wallet and was pumped full of 17 bullets by police? What did he do wrong?
