See “COLD SNAP” at the bottom of the page. They had a Cold Snap in Southern California and everyone is cold :)

Oh, there is a Sea World in CA, too. In FL it got down to about 60 degrees.

Mr. Ima doesn’t believe in gravity, either. That does not mean that when we drop things they fall up.

Since Ima has started to reply to his own posts, the rest of us can happily ignore them.

Fifty degrees would be a scorcher. It was fifty degrees in Australia last week and they had bad fires as a result. Where I live, it’s about zero right now, that is, the freezing point.

50 degrees is not a cold snap.

Heard a story about some homeless people in Arizona who are simply unprepared for the temperatures there. Lettuce, oranges and other crops are endangered and that’s on top of losses from drought and flood in other parts of the country.
I don’t care what the cause of CLIMATE CHANGE is, but the evidence that man can take measures to slow, and/or reverse it, is overwhelming. Ima stubborn fool if I ignore the evidence. Ima uncaring beast if I don’t care what happens to people who live on low lying islands and shore lines. Ima unhelpful loudmouth if I insult and get in the way of people who are trying to help. But, I’m none of those things.
Ima person with enough education and sympathy to see what can be done,
Quick note, Boehnor made Lamar Smith, R- Tx, chairman of the Science Committee. He is having a session soon and there are reports he wants to cut ALL funding for research related to climate change.
    Respectfully,
    pointedly,
    C.

CANUCK: According to Jet Stream projections, it’ll be -20 in a few days, so start getting your long johns out. (made, BTW, in factories you believe cause global warming. )

    @Respectful Troll

We started a normal winter, thanksgiving and christmas were -40.
    .
Then it warmed up and rained.
Now it is going below zero again.
    .
What happens is the rain freezes into a crust on the snow and caribou and oxen (yak) cannot get to the lichens which are their normal diet.
    .
Pictures from space show large herds laying on the tundra dead after these happenings.
    .
If this were commonplace in the past the herds would not be here now. Soon they will not, along with those polar bears.
    .
Records in the permafrost show a 1500 year warming trend in interior Alaska, starting before the industrial revolution.
    .
So what. The warming is still killing the environment as we are used to it.
    Preparations should be considered.
