Not “X-ING” but zing, zoing, pling and ra-ta-ta-tat… Not an environment conductive to enlightenment, and that’s what they need over there.

So SAD! What kind of a world do we live in? And why can’t so many of us realize who we’re up against?

Almost all religions are the same: paternalistic, inflexible, and convinced of infallability. This is why religion is such a great match for the Republican party.

What happened in Pakistan is not too very far from shooting a doctor for performing a legal procedure, but we are unwilling to see the similarities.

For example, the Pope recently caused a little stir by calling out American nuns for doing their job, which he considered to be too uppity, evidently.

And it seems to me that Justice Kennedy said something within the past year about laws governing abortion, essentially saying that women can’t deal with this issue without government help.

None of this is to excuse or minimize the absurdity of what happened in Pakistan.

What SHOULD be upsetting to Americans, is that on a REGULAR BASIS, gang violence in the U.S. sees children, boys AND girls, killed either deliberately, or randomly, in shootings of one “mind set”, killing those of another “mind set”, or, just as “collateral damage”.

Much as I find the “Taliban” deplorable, and disgusting, I cannot view world, and American, “current events”, and single them out alone, for inhumanity in their actions.

As far as I understand gangs they don’t have different mindsets, just different turfs and limited resources. Turf wars are about money, drugs, hos, power and potency. So, you are right, except it’s even worse…

DISCLAIMER: I only know about gangs from movies and computer games (still playing GTA San Andreas from time to time :-)

There’s a big difference. Three girls have been shot in Pakistan for going to school. One, Malala, had a blog where she promoted female education. Pakistan has offered $1 million for the shooter, dead or alive (preferably dead). The Islamic world took up a collection and paid to fly Malala to the UK and promised to pay 100% of her medical expenses, regardless of the cost.

Compare that with the various Americans who have marched into schools and killed everyone in sight until they were killed by police (a few surrendered). It’s a lot more than just 3, and no sex discrimination, since the shooters shot boys as well as girls, and teachers of both sexes. America is #1 again.

Morty: my kids were never allowed “play” guns, but when old enough were both taught to shoot, respect, and hunt, with REAL guns. My daughter is a nurse, and has seen her share of shooting victims in the ER and ICU. My son went in the Navy, never saw a boat, but did see real combat.

I can’t “handle” the video games, because of my experiences in combat, and law enforcement. When you’ve been in on the real killing, it can’t be a “game” any more. Americans see TV news, play games, and think CSI’s can get DNA results in 30 minutes and solve every homicide. Reality is that less than half of non-family or acquaintance homicides are ever solved.

Kids in every corner of the world deserve the opportunity to see adulthood. Stupidity, whether gang, religious, political, or driven by “economics” is inexcusable, especially against children. Which means that when criticizing other cultures who, yes, may be idiots, we should also ask, where are OUR BOMBS FALLING!
