Yeah, too bad Obamacare isn’t going into that “death spiral” thing. When FOX News has to report good economic news, they treat it like a death in the family. Ah, but then…

Look for the Liberals to be tearing into former prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy next.
A for the economy? The White house Census numbers spin might look good. but really, if it was not for the oil boom in some states, and then there are the Carter numbers of 93 million out of work.
And what about the obamacare death spiral? well let us see how many have paid? what you mean obama’s number men do not know this? really. yes over 7 million signed up, not hard to do when you get 10 million to cancel what they once had and liked, then tell them the IRS will come a knocking if you do not. But really how many are going to pay into it to keep it solvent?
but but Obama told us all emails have been released, two years later..without black marker marks..

Now that is witty and, sadly, so true, especially for Issa who has no achievement to point to. But once he gets an idea, he really sticks with it no matter what reality and sobriety might say.

Joe McCarthy’s ghost seems to be running things at the RNC… and in the House.

I looked at this ‘toon this morning. Later, I thought more about it, and now feel that it is irrelevant, no matter what Benson’s intention is.
The sad fact is that the new Republican Party of Lincoln’s time bears no resemblence to today’s version, except that the party has always been pro-big business. Whereas the 1850’s & 1860’s party platform espoused certain principles, including a “new birth of freedom” for the nation, full enfranchisement for all (except Indians & Chinamen, of course), they soon began selling out. First, by striking a deal with southern states to let them keep the White House a little longer by abandoning the Blacks. Today, there is only one principle: protect their wealthy financial backers from any tax increases or new taxes, and confer bailouts, subsidies and tax breaks to their businesses.

As Christ did, when he came to the temple and found all the money-changers doing business there, on the Sabbath no less, if Lincoln walked into the congressional chambers today and listened to a few “debates”, I think he would brandish a horse-whip and go after every Republican in there.

If Lincoln were a Republican today:

and that government of the people, by the corporations, for the corporations, shall not perish from the earth.

No, if Lincoln was a Republican today, he would follow Theodore Roosevelt’s example and quit the party.

If I was Lincoln, I would be insulted. Lincoln would have used much more eloquent words and the speech would have made the Democrats feel bad about the garbage they are giving the people.

And true, Lincoln would not want to be part of today’s Republican party since it too, is corrupt as the Democrats – our public office holders are doing what is right for their friends, family, and personal pocket books. Look at Reid vs. Bundy.

    Nailed it!

He’d also be against the Voting Rights Act, the EPA, and all other social progress that has been made since his time. And, he’d think the universe is only about 6,000 years old.

The Republicans in congress are doing their job. Their intention is to keep everything just as it is, unless they can manage to return to the “good old days” of the 19th century, before there was a middle class and when only the landed gentry were voters. And, they have a great strategy for accomplishing this.
    1. Disenfranchise everyone you possibly can, unless they are dependable Republican voters.
    2. Produce ads and media emphasis which emphasizes those politicians who are corrupt and incompetent. Paint all Democrats with the same slime. Lacking sufficient actual slime, simply make some up. This undermines the people’s trust in their government and makes them feel like helpless pawns, so they tune out the whole process and accept the status quo.
    3. Support the “job creators”, who are the recipients of a huge portion of the GNP, although that GNP was produced by working people, who are receiving less benefit from it every day. This gives them the money to accomplish the other two goals, and leaves everyone except the “job creators” with increasingly less money to mount a counter campaign.
So, this is the way we are going lose the middle class and become a country inhabited only by the very rich 1%, and a 99% who are too busy working two jobs to survive to notice.
