Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1993, Steve Benson has been a lightning rod for more than 20 years as the staff editorial cartoonist for The Arizona Republic. Benson sums up his career best: "I don’t aim to please. I just aim."

A snail is much to speedy a metaphor. Continental drift outruns Washington politicians.

Well, Benson got something right; the trail of slime most politicians leave behind them…

Being a congressperson/president is so hard, making all the Godlike decisions that effect so many little people.

Put terms limits in place.
Make all members of the government subject to the same laws they pass on the rest of us. No special retirement funds, health care, etc.
For members of Congress, make it a part time job as it was originally intended to be.
No pay raises unless they are voted on and approved by the population. With an overall approval rating of 18% they don’t deserve it.

@HOWGOZIT
He was perfectly willing to interrupt his own vacation for the good of the country. Which he like former President Bush and all other former Presidents, had to pay for ,except for those things such as security, which is essential in such an extreme world. So, as usual your comment is meaningless!!

If you don’t like your representative, get busy and stop electing them! The classic is, “Yes, he’s a creep and crook, but he’s MY creep and crook.” If the nation, not just Ohio voters could vote against Boehner, he’d be on unemployment (okay, he’d become a lobbyist for millions a year) in a second.
My Senators are both pretty good, even though I do disagree with them on some elements. My Congressman is a bit of an idiot, who I disagree with on almost every issue, but he does have a few good staffers working FOR veterans, and a couple other issues. My district is so “right wing” they haven’t elected a Democrat in 36 years, and our Representative before the current one WAS regraded (by House members!!) as the dumbest person in Congress, so I I guess we have moved up, just a little.
Point being, sometimes our vote in some areas isn’t enough alone, BUT ! I have worked directly with my Congressman I disagree with on many issues, in a cooperative manner, and HAVE managed to get him to think over some issues and vote more responsibly having ALL the information, not just the “party line”. It is up to WE as “the PEOPLE” to do OUR job, even if “politics” doesn’t allow us to make the big changes we’d like, every time.
Just sitting back and constantly bitching, without participating, makes one even less a “citizen”, and even if we can’t always elect who we want, letting them do whatever they, or the “party line” says, without challenging them, is NOT what the “founding fathers” would call “citizen”.

P.S. Obama won the “popular vote”, TWICE, “W” did NOT the first time, and lost by considerably more votes than Obama won by. So, remember, not electoral college or SCOTUS, no “W”. (NOT “Bush bashing”, just stating a fact folks, before your get started again.)

Sadly, MY Senators are Rand Paul, the twit in training, and Turtle-Boy McConnell himself!
“Sigh”
