   Not according to muslims. They hold the right to kill anyone who criticizes them, insults them, accurately protrays them as idiots, or to kill anyone just because they feel like it.

   Rational human beings don’t use theology or quote scriptures to justify murder and destruction of property. This doesn’t just include the adherents to the specific mythology, but also people who try to explain or justify why people who believe in mythology should be “understood” because they believe nonsense.
   .
   Civilized, rational people don’t refrain from murder because God said so. They do it because killing is fundamentally wrong.

   Zoid, don’t say “Muslims.” Say “some extremist Muslims.” The extremists get the press, but they’re hardly a majority. Lumping them all together just loses you any moral advantage you have over them — they’ll be justified in saying that “Christians hate Muslims,” even though it’s just a few like you who violate Christ’s explicit teachings.

    The toon falls into the same fault others have. The video isn’t the reason; it’s just the excuse. The evidence from people there, even some Muslims, says the attacks were planned.

    It’s not bad planning, either. The demonstration is preplanned and everyone is waiting for the call (days, weeks?) to stage the demonstration. The only thing missing is the reason for the demonstration. (be that reason actionable or not) When that reason does appear, wallah, “spontaneous” demonstration

    Bush checked with God before going into Iraq (and I don’t just mean Cheney). That religious conviction lead to the death of a lot more Muslims due to American intervention than Americans due to Muslim intervention. I know facts are a bitch when you are a Fox fed paranoid right winger, but there it is.
