This would matter if blacks were a swing voting demo. But since they are as close to monolithic as you can get outside of total mind control, it was noble of Romney to show up. Honestly, look at other minority groups that may break 60-40 in favor of Democrats and then look at blacks who break 95-5. The lack of thought diversity should be embarrassing. Just ask the 5% how they’re treated for daring to think differently. I could go further, but since I fear the race card (stifled laugh), I’ll leave it be.

Bruce, your suggestion that the NAACP is racist shows a stunning combination of ignorance and insensitivity.

Yes, romney is so noble just for showing up. Wish he’d stop lying with every word he flushes out of his noble mouth.

Really? Just how do you define racism then?

What would you say to an organization that’s sole purpose was to insure that Caucasians and their needs where given priority? Why that would be discrimination against other ethnic groups. So why is it that this group gets to do that very thing and it’s all good?

The NAACP is a useless relic of a bygone era. You would think Black “leaders” would be more concerned with a 70% Black illegitimacy rate and the destruction of Black families by the welfare state (and mentality) but where’s the soundbites and profits in THAT for Je$$e and Al?

What amazes is how the True Believers continue to vote taxocrat and stand by Lord Ears when Black unemployment is TWICE the national average.

Even with the usual gang of libmedia idiots aiding the obama regime, this time around Ears has to put out ads targeting the Black community. Pathetic.

Romney’s handlers set up the comment for the response the got. Yes, MItt did show up, and the crowd was mostly respectful, until they were taunted.

As to questioning “block voting”; how many dittoheads vote Democratic?

Bruce — your definitions seem to repeat themselves, so I will deal with just one set.

First definition: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

Do you have any evidence that the NAACP supports the belief that there are inherent differences among races, and do you have any evidence that the NAACP believes that their race is superior and has the right to rule others?

Second definition: a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

Do you have any evidence that the NAACP promotes a system of government based on or fostering such a doctrine?

Third definition: hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Do you have any evidence that the NAACP supports the hatred or intolerance of other races?

In fact, the NAACP was a response to racism — systematic, pervasive, and violent repression of one race by another race. I don’t have room here to teach you the history of race relations in the US, but you might just think about the history of lynching in the US and what that meant to the Black community. Add to that a pervasive tolerance of rape, which unlike lynching usually went unreported.

Now you might argue that things have changed — and they have changed, though not enough. You might argue that the need for organizations like the NAACP has passed. I would disagree, but I would listen to the argument, respect it and respond to it. But the idea that the NAACP is racist is just not credible, by the very definitions you appeal to.

I will engage with you, because I think your heart is good, even if I disagree with you. There are others who post here who don’t deserve a response.

Bruce, look at the motivation. A racist’s motivation is through fear and hate. The disadvantaged community (Black or Asian in predominantly Caucasian society, women, disabled, the elderly, the young) is seeking not to make anyone suffer, but to empower the community. One wants to destroy, the other wants to build.
If you want to argue that whites can say they only wish to empower their community, ask yourself is that community really without power?
Once a previously disadvantaged community attains a level of acceptance, the need for these organisations becomes weaker. Do you think your society has reached a stage where there is no colour distinction? Are the blacks a disadvantaged community in the US or are the whites the disadvantaged community? Have women in the US broken the glass ceiling? Are the disabled, elderly treated equally and fairly in your society?
If not, there will be a need to empower them. These organisations serve that purpose.
