A sad reminder that we are still trapped in Bush”s “War Of The Worlds”. When you charge into war with no plans of how to win the war, and no real idea of why you are there, it is very hard to find a way out.

To those who say that Bush “kept us safe for the past 8 years” these wars are a reminder that he made us less safe, the world less safe, and created even more enemies that we have to fight.

Every American who dies in Iraq and Afghanistan is paying for Bush’s stupidity.

Really? I think many of them might want to punch Bush over the whole Iraq issue, rather than give a …. about Warren.

And about intellectual honesty, you would equate the WWII German/Italian/Japanese alliance with whatever link existed between Iraq and Afghanistan? Laughable.

scott, here I know something about it. I lost a good friend (an FDNY firefighter) in the WTC and sat with his wife and kids all day while we waited for word from him which never came. I spent days both prepping food for recovery workers, and was a chaplain at the Red Cross Centers in the months that followed. My brother-in-law worked in Tower 1 and only survived because he missed a train that morning and got to work after the plane had already hit. This is close to me.

And I can tell you that those I know affected by 9/11 were not and are not amused by how this attack was turned into a political grandstand that turned the world’s sympathy and willingness to cooperate into disgust.

Oh, and for the record, it was Japan and Germany that declared war on us. Iraq did not declare war on us. Actually, neither did Afghanistan despite the training grounds for al Qaeda being based there.

I recently spoke with a man who lost a number of friends on 9/11- in the towers, though a “banker” and life-long Republican, his contempt for Bush, who falsely invaded Iraq, where he lost still more friends, matched my own.

ah..true….Afghanistan did not declare war on us, but they DID choose to shelter those who put in the place the plan that ended with the murder of all those people. They were given the opportunity to hand Osama Bin Laden and chose not. Perhaps ‘diplomacy’ was not given enough time to ‘work things out’ eh?

I must to mention that Iraq as well did NOT declare war on the US. (as if to suggest that fact made Iraq an innocent in the grand scheme) Must not forget Iraq’s war with Iran and the many thousands of deaths that caused. Shortly after that, the invasion of Kuwait. But hey, Iraq didn’t declare war on us then either! GAWD!

Now for Bush haters (you know the drill…he lied blah…blah..) I think it fair to say that chemical warfare is ILLEGAL under the Geneva Convention, is it not? Well, Iraq used gas on the Iranians as well as the Kurds. ‘Chemical Ali’ didn’t get that nickname from his job at the dried milk factory One town alone in Iraqi Kurdistan had TWICE the number of people, men, women, and children gassed as we had lost on 9/11. If THAT does not constitute a weapon of ‘mass distruction’ I am hard pressed to find out what does!

also quoting you Cdwardscissorhands”…And I can tell you that those I know affected by 9/11 were not and are not amused by how this attack was turned into a political grandstand that turned the world’s sympathy and willingness to cooperate into disgust….”
    HUH?? grandstand…..??….turned into disgust..??
    What are you talking about??

To use an old quote: Stupidty is an condition, but Ignorance is a choice. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or with terrorist, Afgahanistan had nothing to do with 9/11, but did harbor and train terrorist, BUT REMEMBER:

All of the 9/11 terrorist came from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Republic, both countries supplied funds for the recruitment of terrorist, Ben Laden came from and founded the Al Kaida in Saudi Arabia, why didn’t we invade those countries?

You and your friends are narcissistic sanctimonious fulls!

You think that it’s all about you and your friends. No, it is all about principles.

Of course it is difficult to understand that if you have none.

It was AMERICA that was attacked in a heretofore unprecedented manner.

  12. cdward

    cdward said, 26 days ago

peter, tell that to all the FDNY firefighters and the cops who kept going up when everyone else was running out. Those are the folks I’m talking about. The people on the front lines who put themselves in harms way each and every day.

You call them narcissistic sanctimonious fulls [sic]?

But then, nobody is good unless they agree with you.

And speaking of principles, since when is an American principle to invade countries that have not threatened or endangered us? Unless, of course, you have no principles and feel that the fact you do it makes it right – as the previous administration did.

Wow, Johndh123, talk about selective memory…

Johndh123 questioned cdward’s words ” …turned into a political grandstand that turned the world’s sympathy and willingness to cooperate into disgust.”

Quite correct. The initial international response to the Twin Towers attacks was that of solidarity. The world’s sympathy and support was with the USA. People of some 53 different nationalities were killed in those buildings.
With the invasion of Iraq - with no link to the attacks on Sept 11th - and subsequent mismanagement of it, that support quickly dissipated.

as if to suggest that fact made Iraq an innocent in the grand scheme
Dude, most countries today aren’t innocent in the grand scheme of things, including the US. However, most countries aren’t invaded willy-nilly. The accusations levelled at Iraq at the time were unfounded, there was a desire to “teach it a lesson” (it was either vengeance for an attempt on Dad’s life for the one and/or part of the grand plan of the New American Century for the Neocons) and there was nothing it could do to avoid it. Al-Qa’ida were not in Iraq before the invasion but what the hell, why not manufacture reasons for one?

Well, Iraq used gas on the Iranians as well as the Kurds.
The US supplied Iraq, its ally in Iraq’s war against Iran, with intelligence, chemicals, biological and military know-how as well as hardware. Witness Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein in the ‘80s (Dec 21st 1983).
And the USA used Agent Orange on Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam…(read above about innocent countries)

Hmm, I suggest you take your blinkers off, mate.
