What “anti-gay” laws?
The idea that marriage should be extended to same-sex couples is digusting, degrading, and makes marriage into a sick mockery of itself. There is no point even HAVING marriage if it is extended to so-called “gays”.
I’m angry that in this mind-numbed, anti-intellectual era we live in–an era where people are forbidden to THINK–we have to allow corrupt, thieving politicians to remake and remold the very fabric of human society.
Publik skewls and the media brainwash people from birth into unquestioningly embracing the entire radical homosexual agenda. It’s like gd “Animal Farm”; the pigs run everything, and all of us non-pigs who aren’t mindless zombies are forced to sit by helplessly and watch as everything we love and cherish is destroyed.
Enjoy it while it lasts, all you evildoers who support this crap. America’s days are numbered. We are bankrupt morally, intellectually, and financially. We’re stumbling blindly forward into an abyss, and our end is going to be very swift and sudden indeed…

For instance, until 1973, homosexuality was still a mental disorder according to the American Psychiatric Association.
In the 1980’s same-sex persons were marching for “Tolerance”.
Now we are being forced by our governments to accept same-sex marriages in large numbers, though the people have voted against such establishments in every single state in which it has been up for vote.

3% of the population should not be allowed to redefine our social mores.

Quite right, nomad. And so the majority of Americans who support gay rights should be allowed to push this forward instead of the minority who don’t.

nomad, no one is requiring you to redefine your social mores. You may keep them as you see fit. But please allow others the same rights and freedoms as you enjoy.

The majority of Americans do not think they should be forced to repress their NATURAL revulsion to sodomy so a minority can display their UNNATURAL attraction for it.
The majority of Americans find the equating of woman’s life-giving womb with a toilet to be the pinnacle of misogyny.
The majority of Americans are simply afraid to say so in polls because the homosexual movement has created an atmosphere of fear in this nation.

motivemagus. You are indeed correct re general support for gay rights. But when results probed it shows support for gay unions and opposition to gay marriage.
Also in those states where gay marriage is allowed there has not exactly been a mad rush to the justice of the peace. Much of this campaign seems to be simply symbolic. It very well may be since there is a well known tax marriage penalty, gay couples are just being economically smart.

The government has no business promoting marriage at all. All the government should do is provide legal credance to couples for tax and other legal status by way of civil unions.
My wife and I were legally joined by a notary public in South Carolina, and we have the same legal standing as a couple married by the bishop of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Devoted, monogamous, same-sex couples should be afforded the same legal rights as male-female couples through a state-sanctioned civil union. Then if you want to get married, go to a priest.

Libertarian1, I did say “gay rights,” not “gay marriage.” And this cartoon was about the DADT policy for the military.
As it happens, I live in Massachusetts. There has been a rush to several of the states, which I think has settled down in part because more and more states are legalizing it, and therefore the rush isn’t necessary. And of course not everyone wants to get married, either, straight or gay. I like the state myself, having been happily married for 21 years, but some have more trouble with it…
Truth is more as Bluejayz put it - government should get out of the definition of marriage, which is a religious definition, and instead permit civil unions across the board for legal reasons, to satisfy the needs of wills, insurance programs, etc.

Movement for gay rights has morphed into promotion of gay lifestyle and promiscuity as a norm.
After all, what is at the root of the movement to scrap the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ doctrine? Sexual promiscuity, without which one can’t distinguish one’s sexual orientation.
Sex ought to be private - regardless of the type.

I agree. Keep your noses out of gays’ bedrooms.

We’re not talking about sex here. We’re talking about legal status and rights for US citizens. There are same-sex couples who never have sex, just as there are married male-female couples who never sleep together. But both should still have the rights and legal standing to file joint taxes, make wills together, emergency / life and death medical decisions, etc.

I agree Bluejay. Gee, don’t we heterosexuals screw up marriage 50% of the time on our own. There are plenty of heterosexual couples practicing charlie555s’ worst nightmares. Motivemagus continues to be patient, thoughtful and right. By the way, the snail reminds me of the Tony Curtis slave role in Sparticus.
