Have you ever seen a shuttle launch?? Such an impressive sight. We’re going to Florida to see one of the last ones this December. I know it’s expensive and pollutes like crazy, but it IS impressive. Especially when you see the booster rockets come off and the TV says they are 700 miles down orbit and 60 miles in the air. No wonder it takes so long for them (hopefully the booster rockets) to come down!

We REALLY need to get back up there, doggonit! And not with the Shuttle, which was not-so-affectionately known as “the flying brick.”

I remember reading about the space shuttle in a Look and Learn in the late ’70s. I was so disappointed it took a few more years for them to get flying regularly.
Sad to see them retire.

Wasn’t this used to illustrate that government programs sometimes work, efficiently, and such?

Why is the flag upside down?
parkersinthehouse said, 2 months ago
i think the upside down flag means the plane is in trouble and in need of rescue

Upside down flag means the country is in distress.
Out of control spending,
people losing jobs by the thousands each week,
you know things like we’ve all been experiencing
since January 20th 2009

Yes BCS–in November 2008 at the election booths.

Howgozit, that explains a lot. You seem to have forgotten that the financial crisis and job losses started well before the election. Or is this your revisionist history?

Howie, I see, you seem to believe everything was just fine until Obama was elected?
No big job losses prior to Obama, so all that jobs data is just wrong?
No deficit spending under Bush, so all those tax cuts and billions spent each week in Iraq and going to Halliburton and KBR and Blackwater were just magically replenished without adding to our deficits?
You do know, don’t you, that if you can’t acknowledge known and obvious facts you do lose credibility, don’t you?
HOWGOZIT said, 2 months ago
I never said they were fine BCS–and I have said that spending was Democrat-like during the Bush years. However, spending (Borrowing on the future) has been greater the past eight months than any other eight month period, but everything points to Bush only, by you, cd, trout etal. Yes some of you have lost credibility.
