Actually, I think he’s done darned well so far. AFAIK, FDR didn’t have to contend with the vehemence and vitriol from the opposing party that Obama is putting up with today.

Can you imagine 100 days of McCain & Palin?
    YIPES!!!!

I believe that the Democrats should erect a monument to McCain , Palin and stupidity. Those three were able to get President Obamas truths heard by the majority of the citizenry, who saw through to the chaos that would be America, if they were the second triumvirate of ignorance to run this country.

It’s too early to make Obama a hero or a bad one yet.

rick: Do you even know what socialism is? From your text, I would say “no”, so let me ask you this:

    Is Idaho “east”?
    Is Ohio “west”?
    Is Nunavut “south”?
    Is Graham Land, Antarctica “north”?
    Is a ten-year-old “elderly”?
    Is a fifty-year-old newborn”?

…I think you see where I’m going.

Actually danielsanger, yes he did. The opposition to the New Deal from the ultraconservatives was every bit as fierce as what Obama faces today. And with an eerily similar cast of characters

Obama has Rush Limbaugh, FDR had Father Charles Coughlin, the Radio Priest.

Obama has FOX News, FDR had the Hearst and McCormick Papers.

Alrighty, I concede. Still, he’s done pretty darned good considering.

Eight years of totally inept (and corrupt) management, following 20 basically uninterrupted years of downhill slide, we are already reversing some of the most damaging policies of those years, within 100 days, and he’s “inept”? The rescue of one ship captain was more of an accomplishment than in the entire 8 years of Bush, simply because he let the people who knew what they were doing, do it. What a novel concept!

rickbooker, do you mean “buffoon” or “bassoon.” Each makes about as much sense as the other, in your statement.

eotcme; Thh cold war is over. Your boogieman is dead and it’s time to burry him (literally). Good thing for the righties Lenin’s body was mummified, they can still scare us with it…at least they could until recently. It just doesn’t work anymore.

100 days- really getting the job done and having to put up with the present day Repub is something that FDR didn’t have to deal with. FDR was called “a traitor to his class”. I bet he was proud of that.

Sure we can, stewie. Even without the facts on our side, we could blame Bush all day long. We could just emulate our good friends the GOP, accompanied by many people on this list, who are still trying to blame Clinton and even Carter for the disasters of the Bush Administration.

    It’s like this Stew…

You’re finished, okay? Republicanism isn’t dead, and neither is conservatism.

    But neo-conservatism, the name-calling, trash-out-anyone-who disagrees-with-you, no-compromises-EVER brand of conservatism?

    That’s dead and gone.

You already chased Arlen Specter out of your party with your bullying, our-way-or-the-highway nonsense, and if you keep it up, you’ll lose Senators Snow, Hagel, and Collins too.

The Republican Party has two choices right now, either purge itself of guys like you, or become even further marginalized.

And all your hissy-fits and temper-tantrums won’t help you.

  21. danielsangeo

    danielsangeo said, 7 months ago

I think TOTUS stands for “Traitor of the United States”.

As for me, I never go to blogs, liberal, conservative, or otherwise. I don’t even think I’ve ever seen what DailyKos looks like.

OK dred, I know in my heart you are right about FDR. It was either let the unions in or it would have been socialism or communism coming in the door. Social Security was the first step in social reform in this country and it took a complete crisis to bring it about—sniffsniff–I miss the Old FDR-
