.. isn’t it halarious how we’ve just emerged from an eight year republican spending binge resulting in a record budget deficit, mired in a war that’s been run on credit and our economy has been trashed by lousy government oversight and then all the republicans can do is holler “Pork” with NO idea as to how to correct things… Here’s a n additional thought; one congressmans’ district improvement plan is another Congressmans’ pork.

  4. PAJ

Hey Hump–it takes Congress to run the economy not one person. The left has had Congress control for years, but no folks like you are still on the antiBush wagon for beating Gore (who could not even carry his home state).

  5. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

No…Congress actually reined in it’s spending after the Dems took over.

And whet is it with the constant blatting about ‘the left’ we keep hearing from the few remaining Bush cheerleaders…like it’s some kind of giant monolith? Sounds kind tin-foil-hattish to me

PAJ … first, W was the figgure head of the GOP and set the mental. Second Dem congress for “two” - not the “years” that you insinuate? Also what happened from Jan 2001 thru Jan 2007. Third you’ve, missed two little points of my post, the US deficit and a charge card war. And last but not least, the “anti Bushwagon”, didn’t like him before he was Pres, didn’t like when he was Pres and still don’t like him now that he’s gone. If there “is” an antiBush” bandwagon, well let me find the biggest horn I can and I’ll climb on board.

Righties complain about debt, but America wouldn’t be in such debt if it wasn’t for their little war games.

This is not so funny. It is to truthful to be funny.
We may not have to idea how to fix it but ADDING 1 TRILLION MORE WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!! How stupid is that.

Well tiney, submit an alternative idea. Who knows you just may be tomorrows’ hero.

Agreed, let’s hear the better idea. And don’t shovel the tax cut nonsense–we already know that isn’t it.

  14. mytinytown

    mytinytown said, 9 months ago

Tax cuts is tons better then a retarded 1,000,000,000,000 dollar “stimulus” that promotes abortion, socialism, and all other non-sense I have posted about last week. It is a big ball of tar filled with pork and pork bi-products. But you are correct, things have gone to far to make ONLY tax cuts work. But borrowing money from China????? Bush was an idiot for starting this bail out non-sense.

And yet, tiny, all the so-called “pork” that the Republicans are complaining about adds up to about one month in Iraq.

Think about that. Take the pig you see in this cartoon and make it over 70 times larger, and have the Reps kissing it and you’d have a more accurate view of things.

How does THAT fit in your worldview?

(Oh, and by the way, Mark Zandi, Chief Economist at Moody’s says that for every $1 in tax cuts, only $0.30 returns to the economy. For every $1 spent on things like infrastructure or gasp food stamps and the like return over $1.50 to the economy. Therefore, take the pig in this cartoon and imagine it bringing back over 1.5 times the amount of food back for the hungry. This is a bad thing? Again, how does this fit in your worldview?)

Iraq does not promote socialism, abortion, ect. that I have mentioned. This has nothing to do with Iraq. I don’t care about that, Iraq war does not justify spending another trillion on nothing. Your argument holds no water. As well I was seeing about 2/3 of the package is pork. Obama needs to VETO it and tell them to cut the pork OUT!

  17. danielsangeo

    danielsangeo said, 9 months ago

Well, since NOTHING in the stimulus package promotes socialism, abortion, or the like, and since the stimulus package DOES do something (i.e., creates jobs), regardless of whether you think it’s “pork” or not, your argument holds no water.

It’s true that Iraq does not promote socialism or abortion. It’s NOT true, however, that Iraq isn’t “pork” that Republicans are kissing…and that pig is MUCH larger than anything the Democrats ever put forth. However, I know how much you want to change the subject when Iraq is brought up, so I won’t mention that gigantic pig that they’re kissing. So, let’s talk about another gigantic pig that the Republicans kiss: Tax cuts.

Tax cuts won’t work in our current economy. Period. Every economist says so. They never HAVE worked. This idea that “tax cuts creates revenue” operates under the assumption that we are on the right hand on the so-called Laffer Curve. I have never seen ANY evidence of this. Have you?

You are blind if you truly think it does not support abortion and socialism. Obama is the biggest abortion supporter out there. And socializing the health care system, is SOCIALISM.
I don’t mind you bring up Iraq I know how I feel about removing that tyrant and reforming that country. I don’t care if you agree or disagree. So no need to say I’ll try to change the subject.
I did say it is too late for just tax cuts to work this time, but I don’t care what liberal non-sense you show me saying they never did, cause for every link you can find say they don’t work, I’ll find 1 saying they do. So this is an agree to disagree.
I won’t be around till Wednesday to read your response here. If it is a different day I’ll re post in that day if I feel I need to. Just letting you know you did not scare me away or anything like that.

TinyTown, their facts are always “ginned” up anyway. Everytime I take the time to check out their citations on my ancient system (takes forever to load a page) I feel like a class A-One sucker. In general I hope their stimulus plan helps America, but if the process is any indication of what’s going to come out - i wouldn’t expect much. A figure I heard puts it as less than 25 cents on every dollar has anything to do with “stimulating” the current economy. It’s a cover-up for the Lib-Porkfest.

  20. fallacyside

    fallacyside said, 9 months ago

I don’t know whether to be happy or concerned - but I think Humphries is sounding a little apoplectic.

  21. danielsangeo

    danielsangeo said, 9 months ago

So, that’s why you’re against the stimulus package? Abortion and health care?

    And Moody’s is “liberal nonsense”?

    Interesting…

(Oh, and you might want to read up on what socialism actually is because, the way you talk about it, it seems that you don’t have clue one on what it is.)

  22. danielsangeo

    danielsangeo said, 9 months ago

Pup, the figures I’m hearing is that “tax cuts” bring in far less money than “spending”.

And, yes, this is a spending bill. We NEED to spend to fix this economy. Ignoring the problem will only make it much worse.

  23. claudermilk

    claudermilk said, 9 months ago

“socialism” is now just another boogeyman buzzword.

So since there’s no better ideas, and while we have to agree to disagree on the validity of all-tax-cuts-all-the-time, we apparently somewhat agree that some kind of NEW New Deal spending is necessary…so why the arguing? Just following Rush & Congress’ lead? If so, please think for yourselves.
