My neighbor has one of those tattoos on his inner forearm. It is very chilling to see.
From the Jewish Virtual Library:
The numbered tattoos that have today become an identifying mark of Holocaust survivors originated in Auschwitz, the largest Nazi concentration camp in Europe.
There, incoming prisoners went through the infamous selektion (selection process).
An SS officer would sort the prisoners into two lines: those sent to the right were immediately killed in the gas chambers, those sent to the left were put to work in the forced labor camps.
After their heads were shaved and their personal possessions removed, the prisoners were officially registered.
Beginning in 1941, this registration consisted of a tattoo, which was placed on the left breast of the prisoner; later, the tattoo location was moved to the inner forearm.
It was not only Jews who were marked: all prisoners other than ethnic Germans and police prisoners were tattooed.
These tattoos were just one of the ways in which the Nazis dehumanized their prisoners.
Despite the perception that all Holocaust prisoners were given tattoos, it was only the prisoners of Auschwitz after 1941 who were branded this way.
Why, oh why, is Obama extending an “open hand” to this clown? Not only is he and the rest of the mullahs in charge in Iran holocaust deniers, they genuinely believe that the 12th Imam is coming, and that a sure sign that this momentous event is at hand is the destruction of Israel. Yes, they genuinely believe that their version of Christ will come only after Israel disappears… in a cloud of radioactivity?
We should not be “engaging” these throwbacks to the 7th century, we should use our technological power to destroy their nuclear facilities and we should do it sooner rather than later.
I know, I know, completely destroying their underground, spread out and heavily fortified facilities is just about impossible. And this action would send oil to $300 dollars a barrel, incite Islamic fanatics to attack our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and who knows what other mayhem would surely follow.
But the prospect of a nuclear Iran, soon to be followed by a nuclear Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, all bristling with nukes, developing the missiles to deliver them and all of them wishing and calculating how to destroy Israel, is a prospect that sends chills up one’s spine. Does anyone doubt that it would eventually end in disaster?
The only real hope of avoiding these awful scenarios is if the Iranian people, who have been rumbling with discontent since that phony election, would rise up, throw the crazy mullahs out of power and join the modern world in peace and prosperity. But the chances of that seem, alas, remote.
Israel will attack Iran within a year or two. We should be with them.
How about people denying Vietnam ever happened? Not as explicitly as Iran’s leader’s poohbah, but our leaders ignoring the lessons of that war and going in anyway. We’re sending in thousands of Lilliputians when all we need is one big Gulliver.
Obama is extending an open hand because he does not want to offend the Muslims as he very likely IS one. He would sell out his mother if he thought it would get him a vote.
Obama is not standing up to these guys because he like every other president who tried to get America off foreign oil gets the same result from Saudi Arabia. Try it and we will jack up the price to what ever and wreck your economy before you are half done.
The oil companies share sum blame, not standing up to these despots but to be honest I do believe they are tired of bowing down to those creeps.
Listen to be honest I don’t believe that Windmills and Solar panels will cover our energy needs. Still even if it can cover say 15% we should build enough so a guy can walk from Texas to Oklahoma to Kansas without getting his feet muddy on a rainy day.
I agree with the cartoon, but not talking to him is like not talking to Saddam Huesein. Ignoring him didn’t make him go away and trying to kill him only consolidated the forces against us. Lerning from the lessons of Vietnam? Some want to deny that Iraq ever happened. We can’t kill evryone who disagrees with us. Yes, and we could walk a lot more than we do too. That would reduce our dependence on foreign oil a bit.
jack75287
Good point; indeed we have not been able to be weaned from the oil spigot from the Mideast.
Now a bit of commentary.
I LOVE irony
For those who feel George Bush, et al (you know, the American oil cartel) controls our oil supply, consider…Since we (the USA) have NO control over OPEC, would it not be logical that Herbert Walker Bush would NOT have invaded Iraq to liberate Kuwait, thus insuring mega-profits (gawd I LOVE these new hyphenated words we come up with!) for American producers via the old tested and true ‘Supply and Demand’?
Iran Negotiation - Like the old saying “Devil is in the details” - or something like that. Not that I believe in devils (or religious mythology)…
Is It better to deal with a so-called devil via negotiation than to declare war & blow US (or Israel) to He!!? I think so.
We ALL would have to live with the “fallout” & that’s not acceptable to LIFE on planet Earth.
America has it’s own Holocaust Denier(s) too - Remember who went to Iran in 2006? Published Dec. 11, 2006:
“Ex-Klan Chief At Holocaust Conference
White Supremacist David Duke Is Among Speakers At Two-Day Meeting Hosted By Iran”
“Duke, a former Louisiana state representative, praised Ahmadinejad for his “courage” in holding a conference “to offer free speech for the worlds most repressed idea: Holocaust revisionism.””
Shaliach, that is chilling. Jack, yes, you are right, we are still an oil reliant nation. However, if we were to drill in the U.S. we wouldnt have to rely on foreign oil so much.
Jor-El - Well today I am humbled by technology - I’ve tried variables of what I understand of “enclosed brackets & parentheses:
[Ex Clan Chief At Holocaust Conference] - Upper Case
{Ex Clan Chief At Holocaust Conference} - Lower Case
My (parenthesis) is giving me grief too..see above
Edit: Cool - I used [David Duke Link] to shorten up the title - Thanks Jor-El!
jack75287 - There’s alot of “potential” nuclear fallout from other countries than Iran…
All I was saying that I’d rather “PREVENT” instead of “CLEAN-UP” any nuclear fall-out. Diplomacy instead of Assured Mutual Destruction seems more healthy & cost effective in the long run.
That sounds great but when was the last time we were able to deal with Iran. Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and now Obama. Sorry at this point the lack of diplomacy is not are fault. It is in the hands of Iran.
The Soviets were afraid of death that is why we never launched. These guys think they will get their 72 Virgins.
jack75287 - Your list of Presidents go back to Carter - the removal Shah of Iran was in 1979 right after Reagan took office.
If I remember correctly - much was made of the fact that the Hostages were released cause they were fearful what Reagan might do…which as it turns out, not much cause there was the economic tensions (recession), Soviet Union tensions (cold war), SE Asia tensions (China, Vietnam, Cambodia) that needed attention.
Sorta like it is now, The Difference - The Web & Communication of IDEAS! It’s been 30 years since the Shah left & Islamic Fundamentalists took hold of Iran. My guess is the time is “RIPE” for this generation to learn from their past - Especially the Women & University Students.
World Wide Web - I think it made a difference in China during protests in Tiananmen Square, the center of Beijing. The world was watching when the young man stood in front of the tank. The world watched (via cell phones) the streets of Iran after their last “election”.
They can’t even hide their nuclear facilities from the eye’s of today’s satellites. I prefer to leave the negotiations to the experts - the world is watching…
I recall picking up on this from some where:
When the death camps were first found by US troops, word got back to Eisenhower, he ordered that they were to be documented thoroughly so no one could say it never happened.
They are trying though.
dkram, you cant suppress idiocy, or you cant make those that refuse to listen, and look at the facts, do so. It depends on the situation.
Contrarian, the Germans came close to taking Europe. However, there were many men, and in some cases women, who stood up, and defended freedom. They fought in the eastern and western front in Europe, and the Pacific. Had Britian, and the Soviet, and the American military lost, Europe would be under Nazi control today.
Had we and our allies lost in the Pacific, there would be a Japanese Empire.
All this aside, I’ve never understood why people think the Nazis could have taken over the world. The Nazi government was vastly inefficient, there was no clear line of succession in the event of Hitler’s death, and they could barely even hold their allies in Europe in line, much less the occupied countries.
Even if they managed to defeat Russia, trying to actually pacify the country would have bled them as dry as China did for the Japanese. A victorious Nazi Germany would have eventually collapsed under the pressure.
It would still be a nightmare, of course, but not quite the one that people assume.

WOODLAND, Calif. – Four Northern California men were indicted this month on charges of beating up four people after one of the victims talked about supporting the United States and the military’s role in ousting Afghanistan’s Taliban government.
Mohammed Qumar Ashraf, 29, of Sacramento; Khialluddin Niazi, 69, of West Sacramento; Sarajuddin Niazi, 31, of Union City; and Zafaruddin Niazi, 27, of Los Gatos, face multiple counts, including attempted murder.
The four suspects were released on their own recognizance after Judge Arvid Johnson ordered them to surrender their passports, the district attorney’s office said.
The men are accused of going to one victim’s residence in March 2004, armed with baseball bats. They beat up four people, prosecutors said; three victims needed medical attention.

She was sentenced to life in prison in the deaths of three of her children. She was not tried in the deaths of the other two.
Lawyers for Yates argued that she was insane at the time of the killing, saying she was overwhelmed by motherhood, considered herself a bad mother, and had attempted suicide and been hospitalized for depression.”

Do you know how to format your link to look like this?
Ex-Klan Chief At Holocaust Conference
Sometimes, URL’s are so long that Uclick breaks them and they may not work.
Here, I inserted the title of the article within enclosed brackets.
Next, within enclosed parentheses (no spacing), I pasted the URL.
When you post your comment, the brackets and parentheses vanish, and you see the title as the link.
The Twilight Zone link from yesterday can go from this:

The great lesson of history is that the world cannot appease evil.
Hitler made it very clear what were his intentions, but England and France tried for years to appease him.
Neville Chamberlain, Britain’s PM, cited 1938’s Munich Agreement as a noble pact for peace.
A year later, after repeated aggressions, Britain declared war on Germany.
By then, it was almost too late to save the world.
