Michael Moore is a complete loudmouth hypocrite. He should be deported from the United States, his assets liquidated and spread equally to all handicapped veterans.
Michael Moore is the epitome of the intelligent, talented, successful Hollywood leftist who has no clue about what is going on around him.
Capitalism is evil? Let’s see, the U.S., the most free-market capitalist country out there, has one of the highest standards of living in the world, is a superpower, has the most inventive, creative, entrepreneurial work force by far, is the financial center of the world, has a currency that is the reserve currency for all the world, is the cultural leader of the world, leads the world in medical technology, procedures and devices, has lifted more people out of poverty than any other country in the world, and has achieved all of this while, at the same time, importing poor people by the millions across our southern border who freely choose to be here because there is well-paid work here for unskilled workers and they know there’s opportunity to get ahead if not for themselves then for their kids.
Capitalism is evil? No, capitalism is the goose that lays the golden eggs and is easily one of the most powerful forces for good in the world. Al least it was until now. It’s hard to believe, but, sadly, it’s true that the Obamians seem hellbent to kill the goose, pluck it, and deep fry it in Euro-style government-is-the-answer nonsense.
Hey, guys,
You don’t like him because he is living in Canada now adays? because he is rattling trees he shouldn’t? he is lying through his teeth?
C’mon all this negative commentary should mean he has a point somewehere (whereever that may be). you just don’t like mirrors :-))
I just don’t understand why anyone goes to his movies.
Daviddow. Yesterday you asked why I didn’t go fight in Afghanistan. During Vietnam, I joined the Marines, unlike liberals dodging the war by attending liberal arts colleges on daddy’s dime, giving aid and comfort to the enemy in their anti-draft riots, and calling our returning heroes “baby killers,”
Well we actually won in Vietnam. Ask Pepsi. Ask McDonald’s. Capitalism works and the rest of the world wants it. If an immigrant want to work, save, and invest, he too may be the next capitalist success.
shiftless,
The only thing I ever saw was a documentary about guns, where he interviewed that nitwit from the free gun association In that documentary, I think he made a good point. the complete stupidity that everybody has the right and therefore owns a gun, and at the same time shouts that it is a crime that all the bad guys are armed and the government should put a halt to it.
That to me is measuring with 2 different units
Lew, you supported one stupid unconscionable war forty years ago. Go to Afghanistan now to support another one. I love how you overlook the napalming of children just so you can sell Pepsi. I lost family in that war–so many of us did. We could’ve gotten the Pepsi to Vietnam without the bloodshed.
Controlled, capitalism does work. So does socialism. You would be dead without socialism. Ask Pepsi. We all pay for the roads on which they truck their product. We all pay for the police who protect the stores where the product is sold. Capitalism needs socialism.
You said in part..”..Clinton sent Carter to North Korea, who outlined a treaty that later was hailed around the world as a significant achievement, and we continued to have fruitful diplomacy with N. Korea until Bush stopped all that…” Spare me!
“hailed around the world..”THAT is part of the problem.
.I confess to not being an internationalist, thus being ‘hailed around the world’ carries little weight, or validity…
To suggest that Clinton and M. Albright made ‘significant inroads’ with Kim Jong is hogwash! One need look no further than the draconian North Korean nation to see the true ilk of Kim Il. I think perhaps the REALITY is that Clinton/Albright were the duped ones. Dubya is just a warmonger Texan, right..??!! Just as before 9/11 we were living in relative peace with the world in spite of 8 months of George Bush eh? I would closer deem our posture akin to an ostrich with head in the sand. I say that considering there WAS an attempt to take down the Twin Towers during the Clinton Administration, so we were put on notice…n’est pas? As for suggesting the senior Bush also didn’t get Osama, well he (Bin Laden) DIDN’T have his minions try his mischief until Mr. Clinton became prez, right? Perhaps you are citing Sadaam Hussein? That point would be true, we did indeed supply Iraq, as they were adversaries to Iran who had taken our embassy staff prisoner. Thus, “an enemy of an enemy is a friend” to use that maxim.
To suggest I am “… lumping it on those you disagree with ideologically….” Of COURSE I am going to lump salient points, by reasoned people, also KNOWN as facts my friend.
now for you, when are YOU going to post reasoned, accurate points yourself?
“….solid, undeniable facts….whoa! …I don’t think so
My ‘facts’ need work???
mroberts88…I see Kees mentioned Mr. Moore has moved to Canada? Sooo….if he has chosen to become a ‘naturalized’ Canadian, ….that would indeed make him an ‘alien’……~winks~
(I know I know…NOT extraterrestrial…but I was trying to have fun!)
DavidDow
I am unsure how you combine these…”Lew, you supported one stupid unconscionable war forty years ago. Go to Afghanistan now to support another one…”
If you have misgivings about Vietnam, so be it; but to position that against our involvement in Afghanistan? Do you feel that we should withdraw at this moment, right NOW? Or do you take the position that it was ‘the right thing to do’ initially, but no longer? Please post your thoughts.
sablebrush, obviously you haven’t been paying attention. Didn’t you know that America is the worlds bully, that our health care system sucks because it is “private”, that our currency is trash, and we could be so much “better” if we were more like Cuba!! At least that what our President and the left believe!
Please don’t bother, really it is all right you can keep him. May we suggest a few more you can take? I am sure we can come up with a nice little list here.
Maybe they are fatting us up while soften are brains before they take us like cattle.
David: Asking a Vietnam vet to go fight in Afganistan is like asking a WWI vet (rank & file, not officer) to fight in WWII. I was of the age to fight in the late 60’s & early 70’s. Being female, they didn’t want me. Now I am in my late 50’s and no army in their right mind would take someone my age in combat. Did you know that there is a draft classification 1Y that basically says in an emergency combat situation it would take several able-bodied soldiers to take care of that individual. All of us who were of an age to fight in the Vietnam era are now the equivalent of 1Y. If Lewreader fought in Vietnam (whether or not you “liked” that war), then he’s my age and unlikely to be accepted even if he did volunteer.
If you people love socialism SO much, move to a socialist country. PLEASE!! America doesn’t want or need you. Likely you’re a parasite of this society.
Wow! I would never have guessed that so many would get so bent out of shape over this one. All I saw was that he must be from another planet…that’s all.
To prove the socialist’s position. Look at the deportation records of illegal ALIENS who tried to enter Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea looking for a better life! Those records don’t exist because no body is trying to get in. The few who accidentally crossed into their country were thrown in jail and used as political pawns. Lefty socialists are morons! Always were, always will be!
David you keep using the roads as an example of successful socialism. I will use it as the example as to why socialism is worthless on this planet. The roads in Michigan would be smoother if we just made them all gravel. It takes years to get them repaired, and the repairs last all of… well, until winter rolls around. A lot of streets don’t even get repaired because they aren’t the highest priority in this dump of a state. All government run projects, initiatives, or anything are slower and more inefficient than a privately run project of similar nature. I feel it would be at least worth a try to privatize the roads and highway repair section so that maybe I wouldn’t need new suspension and ball joints every year.
You can respond to that however you like, or ignore it. I don’t think I will even bother to read your reply because telling Lewreader to go fight in another war after he heroically fought in one 40 years ago was the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard.
Sable, I’m not a fan of Michael Moore, but I did hear him say that he is not anti-capitalist, but anti-corporate.
You are a libertarian, and this distrust of corporatism is a libertarian position going all the way back to Thomas Jefferson whom I have quoted on this issue.
Teddy Roosevelt, as noted by another commenter, feared that corporatism undermined the Constitution and libertarian government.
Jefferson called it aristocratic—Roosevelt called it plutocratic.
Ron Paul espouses the Jeffersonian principle with some very blunt observations:
We don’t have socialism here, but a mild form of fascism—corporatism–with corporations on the dole, making money off the military-industrial complex, while the banks and financial houses are making money off the monetary system.
Take our medical care…This is where the corporations run things - the HMOs, the PPOs, the drug companies, pharmaceutical companies – they’re not worried about poor people, they’re worried about making big bucks.
That is a libertarian view–not socialist, not even liberal.
It is an American ideal professed by our Founders.
To paraphrase you, maybe people aren’t taught these things in our crummy schools.
Your comments to Lewreader shows a very childish attitude. If you want to go into what abouts I can give you plenty. What about the 34 mil Moa killed what about the 63 mil Stalin killed. Compare that to Hitler 21mil oh wait that was National Socialism. So the left 118 mill during the 20 century, all for some kind of government control.
One of the reasons the political right is against Socialism is that with absolute power you get absolute corruption.
Sure you have corruption with capitalism. You can have a lot more if you have the politicians with all the power in a socialist government, who can blow the whistle.
Health Care Reform + H1N1 Influenza Pandemic = Sicko Part II (or Why Did Congress Waste So Much Time On Debate While Children Are Dying?).
I watched a news report the other day about hospital staff putting up a Triage Tent in front of their Emergency Room for anyone having flu symptoms. Imagine having to wait outside in nasty weather just to get turned away & fend for yourself at home. (Considering the “Super Bugs” that inhabit hospitals - staying home may be the SAFER BET).
Another story was about how a hospital was coping with “rationing” out H1N1 Injectable Vaccines to the most vulnerable (healthy children ages 2-4 and older folks with other physical ailments). I’m one of the “lucky ones” - born in the 50’s & exposed to a similar virus - good for natural immunity since I’m not in the “Vulnerable Category”.
Michael Moore doesn’t have to write fiction to make his Documentaries - Just read/watch the news stories about Real People Every Day Coping With The Medical System!
I am afraid your right the Dallas Morning news has an article that Texas is only getting a small portion of the N1H1 vaccine even though we have been hurt more then any other state.
Only saw the head lines plan to pick up the paper on my way home and read about the issue.

I would not use that death causing UN-approved Swine Flu vaccine if I had to. Wasn’t it developed by the same company that sent out a live virus in the 70’s?
Tiny all I know is it was made in the U.S. I have little love for the UN. As for the company who made it, this is the first pandemic in how long. The company that comes out with a vaccine will be golden for years.
I am not too worried about mass deaths. Why should I we have already had close to 90 in Texas alone. (sarcasm). I have a Doctor I trust and he says get the shot in November. (not sarcasm).
My link above is Louis Farrakhan saying that it is designed to kill people. I have little love for him to and I have long believed him to be Mayor of Crazy Town.
harleyquinn suggested that the aliens in the comic strip are fattening us up, and taking us away like cattle.
Sounds like that episode of The Twilight Zone where the aliens came in peace, and presented a friendship book, To Serve Humans, which turned out to be a cookbook with recipes on how to serve humans.
lalas , to answer your questions, No and NO! I dont care for either and I don’t waste my time with them. They are unimportant therefore I don’t hear them or their kind from ANY political side. ‘NUFF SAID!
I’m not going to say anything about our veterans except, they are doing the best they can. We should have won in Vietnam, i say that because there is no S. Vietnam, only a combined Vietnam.
“I would not use that death causing UN-approved Swine Flu vaccine if I had to. Wasn’t it developed by the same company that sent out a live virus in the 70’s?”
I think it is important to understand a few things about flu vaccine.
The 1976 flu vaccine was given to about 46 million people; 25 people died as a result of vaccination and about 500 people developed Guillain-Barre syndrome. However, that was not due to a “live virus” … but caused by hypersensitivity to ingredients in the vaccine.
In any case, Flu vaccine manufacturing is very different today. Much stricter standards. Much better understanding of the process.
Flu vaccine starts with surveillance. There is no reliable and predictable way to predict which particular strains of influenza will circulate in a flu season. But scientists track and monitor activity of strains, and make a best guess at which ones will strike in the US.
As a result, the efficacy and effectiveness of any vaccine given to people in the US depends on whether these experts were right or not.
Once the strain is identified, it is grown. But no flu vaccine uses live virus. All of the virus used in injectable vaccine is dead virus – the disease causing portions have been engineered out. These viruses cannot cause influenza.
There is one flu vaccine that uses an attenuated (or weakened virus) … and that is the intranasal vaccine Flumist. But that is not being used in pandemic preparedness, so that’s another story.
The pandemic vaccine is manufactured the same way all flu vaccines are made: the selected virus is re-engineered to have all disease-causing material removed; the virus is grown in chicken eggs over a course of about 5 or 6 months; the resulting DEAD virus is collected from the chicken egg and manufactured into injectable shots.
Once the dead virus is injected into humans, the recipient’s immune system recognizes the proteins in the dead virus as an invader and develops antibodies against the virus. Think of the vaccine strain as a punching bag and your immune system as a boxer. The boxer uses the punching bag to train just in case it has to get in the ring with the real thing. The immune system stockpiles antibodies and releases them in the presence of a real, live viral invasion.
Some people are allergic to eggs, so they cannot get flu vaccine. Some people have a less effective immune system, and while their immune system is building response to the vaccine strain of the virus, they are simultaneously attacked by another virus – and not necessary flu. But, that person might get a cold or flu-LIKE symptoms and because of the timing, think that the vaccine caused the virus. In actuality, it is a coincidental attack, because the vaccine CANNOT cause influenza.
The flu vaccine is not universally, absolutely safe. Nothing ever is. But actual influenza virus is far, far more harmful than the vaccine. For instance, about 35K to 50K people die each year from influenza virus.
Well I’ve heard stories how the UFO’s abduct folks to “experiment” on - abductees lose track of time & are somehow “changed”.
This is just a theory - Carl Moore started out being one of those 60’s liberals (see bio) and somehow became conservative. I remember some of those UFO reports back then. Swamp Gas My A$$! Maybe they got Carl!
OMG - maybe they took some of his genetic material & manipulated it to make Neo-Cons! Look what those B@$T@RD$ did to the Economy!
Ok - END of my Conspiracy Theories for today. MOORE to come later….The Carl Moore Kind;-))
OMG Jor-El…I remember that Twilight Zone (or was it Alfred Hitchcock?) Do you remember the ‘aliens’ were expressionless, EXCEPT one who extended a broad smile for a rather chubby human…..yummy!
Here’s an excerpt from a piece that I disagree with on some points but it reflects the thinking of millions of people who are becoming seriously angered and resentful. This is not good.
“…In their lifetimes, the American people have seen their Christian faith purged from schools their taxes paid for, and mocked in movies and on TV. They have seen their factories shuttered in the thousands and their jobs outsourced in the millions to Mexico and China. They have seen trillions of tax dollars go for Great Society programs, but have seen no Great Society, only rising crime, illegitimacy, drug use and dropout rates.
They watch on cable TV as illegal aliens walk into their country, are rewarded with free educations and health care, and take jobs at lower pay than American families can live on – then carry Mexican flags in American cities and demand U.S. citizenship.
They see Wall Street banks bailed out as they sweat their next paycheck, then read that bank profits are soaring, and the big bonuses for the brilliant bankers are back. Neither they nor their kids ever benefited from affirmative action, unlike Barack and Michelle Obama.
They see a government in Washington that cannot balance its books, win our wars or protect our borders. The government shovels out trillions to Fortune 500 corporations and banks to rescue the country from a crisis created by the government and Fortune 500 corporations and banks.
America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right.”
Thanks Jor-El - I looked up “To Serve Man” & found several websites to view it. The YouTube site was buffering alot so here’s the CBS site (short commercial at the beginning):
Copy & Paste (or Google for additional viewing sites).
I kinda remember it - looks like it was originally shown in 1962 (according to one web site - 1961 in another) so I was about 10. Thanks for the memory update!

Moore is completely entitled to his opinions, but that’s all they are.
And here’s mine:
There is nothing wrong with capitalism. Inherently, it is neither good nor bad.
Morality can only be applied to the actors in a system.
And some people use the ideas of capitalism to conduct immoral and/or illegal activity.
So, there’s nothing wrong with capitalism; but there are some bad capitalists.

You are still insulting veterans and preaching how nice socialism is. If you love all this nonsense so much, move to Cuba.

I would not use that death causing UN-approved Swine Flu vaccine if I had to. Wasn’t it developed by the same company that sent out a live virus in the 70’s?

For the latest in crazy town.

Tiny I was wrong. I just find out it was not made in the U.S.

john, that was funny.
I’m not going to say anything about our veterans except, they are doing the best they can. We should have won in Vietnam, i say that because there is no S. Vietnam, only a combined Vietnam.
