Thats it in a nutshell. There is no love for the defensive games anymore. People want to see high scoring games, excitement, not low scoring games. So its a wonder the AFL (Arena Football League) failed.

I’m just want to know why Carl made this strip in particular, sports arent really comparable with politics.

Hey, he also made a couple of comics about, well, comics (Disney and Marvel, to be exact). It seems that he’s branching out…

And besides, culture is easily more important than politics.

Thank goodness hubby isn’t big on sports. We watch the Super Bowl every year, and that’s about it.

Though I did get REALLY into one game last year. A game a stayed up until midnight watching.

    Gators vs. Sooners.

    That was a magical moment.

Nothing, I mean not even the NFL beats college football.

Football? your not allowed to play with your feet, so what should you think of Soccer. That beets football.

And to the why he made this cartoon?
You all get a scholarship based on achievements right? so a good football player gets one at a university, with a good sport department. you are not measured against your mathematical skills, but your sport!
So a good player becomes a good politician???
If watching football is already boring, just imagine to sit in with a debate at congress :-))))))).

LIT, whats wrong with sports? I can think of a few things that are better than College football.

Kees, the name comes from the early days, and yes, you can use your feet.

I love a good defensive game, 3-3 overtime sounds great.
Working evenings & all afternoon Sunday, I don’t get to watch.
Oh well, at least I have a job, Winter’s coming on.
Gotta watch for that long bomb from the gas company,
& the end run from property taxes.

Y jack - R U suggesting something more than an old couple falling asleep? OR R U just looking to get something started on a slow day - hummmm….. Take a Chill Pill Dude!

I figure Carl’s getting close to 70-ish and the guy looks about that age group (from his bio about being in college during the early 60’s).

mroberts, nothing wrong with them. I’m just not that into them.

I’d rather be PLAYING sports than merely watching.

Hence the reason I bike. And I’ve been known to play a pick-up b-ball game when the mood strikes me.

There is nothing more dramatic, more entertaining and fun on TV than a high-scoring, close, football game… especially if it’s a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, such a Super Bowl is rare… it happens, but it’s rare.

    Soccer? Never heard of it.

sable, I prefer defensive games. Unless Dallas is involved, then I want the ‘Boys to have a lopsided victory.

    LIT, thats understandable.
