The White folks took all their land. Who can blame the Original Americans for trying to get some back?

Since blacks are allowed to freak out when they hear the dreaded “N” word, maybe Indians should be allowed to do the same when they see a $20 bill.

Uneducated liberals won’t even know what that means.

Thats pretty much it. If someone wants to waste money trying, and mainly failing to get alot of money at gambling, they are suckers.

Those magnificent Edifices wouldn’t be built if you could beat them . It would be cheaper just sending you a check once in a wile .

It’s fair. However, I beat there system the one time I went, and won $60 or something meager like that, I guess I can’t go back, or I’ll lose it.

Gambling is a tax on people who can’t do math.

If they want to be stupid with their money, I say let them suffer the consequences. As long as they don’t let those same people run for Congress.

    (Apparently they already have.)

Casino: is that not a different word for washing machine?

Hector, what do you mean, “Blacks are allowed to freak out”? Someone gave them permission? Do you want to keep using the “’N’ word”? Why?

As for the twenty-dollar bill, African-Americans are used to so much of the history around them being a history of their oppression, that wouldn’t you expect that original Americans feel the same? Why should they be surprised that European-Americans want to honor a genocidal killer like Andrew Jackson? When you have been an oppressed people in the land of those who oppressed you, then your attitude toward its history is, expectably, mixed & complex.

L.I.T., I agree with you about gambling. Some of the big gamblers have become Secretaries of Education & sanctimonious preachers of morals. Congress will never be filled with particularly intelligent folk. Look at Mark Pryor of Arkansas, who does not believe in the theory of natural selection, and does not consider part of the message of Jesus to be one of peace. As he said, “there’s no intelligence test for the U.S. Senate”.

Many of the Indian Casinos in Oklahoma have non-tribal names on them.

The Creek Nation Casino has been changed to the “River Spirit Casino.” It is on the east bank of the Arkansas River.

The Cherokee Casino Complex in Catoosa, Oklahoma, has had its name changed to “Hardrock Hotel and Casino Tulsa.”

It has a Catoosa street address and is neither in the City of Tulsa nor is it in Tulsa County. It’s in Rogers County.

My maternal ancestors were part of a Siouan band of Native Americans who lived along the Kansas River. My great grandmother, who grew up on the reservation, spent many hours telling us the oral history of our people.

She gave us books on native culture when we were very young, and that is how I learned to read.

For what it’s worth, I think I can recognize racism when I see it–even when it is in reverse.

Take the White Suckers’ Money offends me.

Replace the word white with any other racial identity, would it not, then, be considered inappropriate?

My great grandmother did not teach me hate and resentment. She taught us pride and forgiveness.

This is what one of my extended family brothers said when he was only 8 years old, He’s 41 now.

“Horse Sense” is something a Horse has that keeps him from betting on People.

He said this when he heard the odds of the Kentucky Derby

The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know that a financial element in the large centers has OWNED the Government of the U.S. since the days of Andrew Jackson.” (History points to the last truly honorable and incorruptible American President as “Old Hickory”) - FDR to Col. E. Mandell House 11/21/1933

Hector, Uneducated ANYTHINGS, won’t get it. But if you want to be picky, only the Cherokee, Creek & Seminols should be able to “freak out” at the $20.00. Jackson never did anything to the Sioux or Blackfeet. And since I was born in this country, I’m as “original” as any of the above named individual people groups or any other tribal political pressure groups whose leaders take the money & keep it.

Chuck, you are native–as am I–but not Original. Thanks for your specificity about which Original American peoples Jackson killed.

History is just that, history. What happened cant be undone, no matter how horrible. Everyone needs to move on, and stop trying to put everyone else on the guilt trip.

Indians are not an “original” people. They did not originate here. Human beings evolved in Africa. Everyone outside of Africa is an “immigrant”.in the sense that they came from someplace else. The Indians just immigrated here a lot earlier than the Europeans.

And this notion that Indians were a peaceful, Edenic people free of the barbarism and cruelty of the technologically superior Europeans is nonsense. Indian tribes were warring against each other with a ferocity and, yes, savagery equal to anything the Europeans inflicted on them.

This whole Indian casino racket is built on a foundation of white guilt. This is the 21st century. Isn’t it time for Indians to quit playing the white-guilt card and grow up? They are United States citizens, not children, and should not be afforded any special sovereignty, privileges or support that ordinary citizens can’t enjoy.

If you want to see why socialism doesn’t work, just study Indian reservations. Big Daddy government - the Bureau of Indian Affairs - has supplied Indians with money, services, etc. since the end of the Indian wars.. And what has happened? They live in poverty, squalor and alcoholism. The casino thing is a step up, yes, and I’m all for the Indians owning casinos, but let’s not kid ourselves here - the best way to help Indians is to stop treating them like they are infants, see them as adults, and treat them the same as anyone else.

As somone who is part Cherokee, I find the recent cartoons attacking Native Americans to be blatantly offensive. Please stop attacking us for our casinos. Why did we offend you? YOU can stop playing anytime, no one forces you to step up to the tables.

Sable., why are you against my city having a police force & a library? Why do you want to destroy all state & U.S. highways? Why do you want to end our weekly trash pickup & close all our state & city parks?
