Some real (and unfortunately true) humor. But it doesn’t provide enough of an intro for commenters to hate each other - GOOD! Moore is a good artist, and maybe this could indicate a return to civility as urged by Colin Powell.

With such a diverse population as in America, many people come from areas less sophisticated than ours, these warnings make sense. When you have grown up with these products, you are less inclined to mis-use them.

Undoubtedly true warnings, equally undoubtedly made necessary by true events. In other words, someone ironed clothes on their body. Someone tried to clean a boom box in a dishwasher. In a culture that worships redneck ingenuity, disparages education and “elitism”, unfortunately we must pander to the lowest common denominator.

Contrarian (from yesterday)
“Tiny, do YOU think that Bush was a good president? Do you understand that Bush was not a conservative, nor was his father?”
I thought in his first 6 years Bush wasn’t bad. I believe also Bush started out as a conservative, then became a democrat during his last 2 years. It seemed he fell apart right after he told the Jews to leave their land.
As well if someone opposes the war, I am fine with that. I don’t care who it is, as long as they support the troops.
“Conservatives do not believe in nation building.”
Really? Neither do democrats, they seem to believe in socialism or communism.
“Bush was fiscally irresponsible.”
I agree. He spent WAAYYYY too much. I never said otherwise in any of my posts, as well if you were to read past posts of mine you’d see that I did not much care for Bush, mainly during his last 2 years, but as well in my opinion, Al Gore and/or John Kerry were much, much WORSE choices. Especially if Gore was president during 9/11.

I find this comic strip kind of funny. My Uncle works in insurance and knows a lawyer who worked on a case were a guy did not take off his shoes in a dressing room at a department store. You guest it he fell and hit his head. He sued and they did discuss a sign that read “Remove shoes before taking off pants” but decided such a thing would not be effective.
It is sad to many of these law suites take the fun out of life. When was the last time you were in a high rise hotel with a balcony where you could enjoy the view. Not to many because some idiots decide to commit suicide and the family sues the hotel.

I believe suing the hotel is not the problem, it is the stupid liberal judge or an ignorant jury that give them the victory is the real issue.

Mytinytown, I could not agree more!
The last time I was in NY, there was a shoeshop, with a sliding glass door , Well at least I think it was glass……The thing was full with stickers and notes. “We are not liable for…………..”
You name it, it was there. the most hilarius one was “for pigeons shitting on you when you enter or leave this store”
What happened to the adventurous Yank? hiding behind mom’s skirt, oh no behind the “we are not liable”
mmmmmmmmmm this said, is this not also the case with your health program as long as I do not have to pay, yes please insure me.
Barack, maybe this is a nice idea, from every silly liability sue, the health insurance program receives 50%. of the amount involved :-))

This strip is pretty good. These labels are silly, but we cannot blame lawyers as a group. I suspect that Carl Moore has employed lawyers once or twice. Almost everyone has.
Ian, I agree that it is our overly strong sense of entitlement combined with our lust for goods and our disdain for education & rationality that makes many of these warning s necessary.
Marig, that was one of the best comebacks I have ever read in one of these forums.
Contrarian, note that TinyT. could not say anything good about Bush-Dick, simply that he, TinyT., thought Bush-Dick “not bad”—there is a ringing endorsement for you. There is so little good to say about the Bush-Dick presidency and it did so much harm that we are lucky that we survived with the nation intact at all. President Obama and the Democrats have such huge tasks to help the country move forward again.

You are right but some companies just don’t want to go into the court room at all because of the legal fees. They are afraid of spending years and a lot of money.
Remember the ACLU often gets judgments making the people they bring suit against to pay their fee.

TinyT., WHY do you pretend to dislike socialism when you—and all Americans—depend & practice socialism every day? PLEASE: You need to drop that subject. America is a part-socialist & part-capitalist country. By the way, the Earth goes around the Sun. My best to your wife. I hope that she is resting comfortably at home, catching up on her reading & watching some good videos. Just another week!

mytinytown said: “Conservatives do not believe in nation building. Really?”
In the 2000 presidential campaign, George W. Bush said: “I’m not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say, ‘This is the way it’s got to be.’”
One day before the election, Bush said: “Let me tell you what else I’m worried about: I’m worried about a (political) opponent who uses nation building and the military in the same sentence.”

Re: George Will (from yesterday)
Will has labored too long inside the Beltway, and it was disappointing that he initially defended Bush’s foreign policy.
In 2005, Will interviewed William Buckley about the state of conservatism in America.
[George] Will: Today, we have a very different kind of foreign policy. It’s called Wilsonian. And the premise of the Bush doctrine is that America must spread democracy, because our national security depends upon it. And America can spread democracy. It knows how. It can engage in national building. This is conservative or not?
[William F.] Buckley: It’s not at all conservative. It’s anything but conservative. It’s not conservative at all, inasmuch as conservatism doesn’t invite unnecessary challenges. It insists on coming to terms with the world as it is, and the notion that merely by affirming these high ideals we can affect highly entrenched systems. But I don’t think that the existence of the neoconservative movement has the effect of vitiating legitimate conservatism.

From yesterday: David, you can look it up for yourself, he was born in Conn. granted, he may have applied to be a citizen of TX, but a native of Texas, he is not. It is also possible, I would join one of the militias that would undoubtedly pop up to fight against Texas.
Today: Courts need to stop allowing this censored

Contrarian, I cannot envision a pompous blowhard like George Will interviewing anyone—except a baseball player. He too much loves the sound of his own voice.
I am not sure that I agree with William Buckley’s view here. Of course, the sticking point is HOW one spreads democracy or helps people around the world decide their own destiny. The U.S. has been particularly poor at the latter. The U.S. has preached liberty but supported many too many tyrannies.
Mrob., G.W. Bush may have been born in New Haven, but he grew up in Midland & Houston. He has lived over 60 of his 63 as a resident of Texas. He may not be “native-born”, and I appreciate your desire to disown him, but he is definitely a Texan.
