    Hump, Yes, Dutch is correct.

Also, you libs hate greedy capitalists but love Gore even though he has made $100 million off his “climate change” (formerly global warming until it was proved global temps have gone down for the past decade) scam. This hoax is all about power and control over the public. As always, the rules don’t appy to the elite.

Actually, Al Gore spent millions making his house an incredibly eco-friendly mansion. It was tough on the neighbors for a few months, but now the Gores live quietly & greenly in Nashville.

These re-run strips continue to be weak. On to other news: The Senate Democrats have realized that they might as well write their own health-care reform bill, because the Republicans have decided that they will play blind, full-throated opposition for the next year. The races for 2010 & 2012 have begun.

For Reference on Al Gore’s Mansion (published June 21, 2009):

“Q: Is it true that Al Gore’s mansion uses significantly more energy than the typical home?

A: The main claim in a chain e-mail was true when the original message began making the rounds in 2007. Since then, the Gores have made several changes to their home.”

    “…Bush v. Gore: 2009
The e-mail has become dated, however. The now-former president Bush has moved into a new home in Preston Hollow, Texas, that is about 8,000 square feet – double the size of his Crawford ranch.

Kreider also told us in an e-mail that the Gores have made several eco-friendly changes to their home, which is now LEED certified. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, this means that Gores’ home has earned credits in five categories: “sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.””

    http://www.factcheck.org/2009/06/al-gores-mansion/

    My Question(s) would be:
How much Tax Payer $$$$ went into Refurbishing the Old Crawford Texas House into a “Western Whitehouse” for the Bushs?
    And Who Lives There Now?

Bush-Dick made $400,000 per year as president. If he had any conscience, he would return it all, considering what a miserable president he was. The American people got inCREDibly poor return on that salary.

Gore is beyond hypocrite - he’s simply a con-man. What foolishness to listen to him.
If he believed his own teachings, he’d live more like Ed Begley Jr.
If the “green” movement is a religion, Al Gore is its Jim Bakker.
    Defend this:
“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration,” Gore said, according to Reuters.

Do U use poor grammar on purpose (more than the occasional oops (see highlighted words)?

R U the one who jumps on folks who try to correct your spelling (activate your auto spell check - themselfs becomes apparent by an underline)?

R U a “Grammar Baiter” OR Just Don’t Pay Attention to What U Type.

Also Re: “Oh and the last I heard of Al Gore’s home was that it got worse in the electrical department.”

So what’s the source of “the last I heard”…. one of those chain letter e-mails? As for “the electrical department” it’s well known that alternative sources of energy are more expensive - at the present level of technology. We all know how Big Computers were when they were made out of Vacuum Tubes & filled large rooms with hardware - like the ENIAC (ref below)

    http://www.computermuseum.li/Testpage/05HISTORYCD-ENIAC-Photos-I.htm

And “got worse” is also poor grammar.

Adult Education classes may help you with your grammar jack75287. If 75287 is your zip code, I’m sure Dallas has some available at your local High School.

Occasional slips of spelling & grammar are no big deal - I find some of my own when reviewing some of my comments. Sometimes I go back to correct the more blatant ones - others I let slide.

    Climate Change a hoax?

Hmmmm … so then all those dead albatross in the Pacific ocean who choke to death on man-made plastic … that’s a hoax, too?

And the receding polar ice caps? Polar bear destruction? Wolves? Deforestation?

And the tons and tons of environmental pollutants released into the air by industrialized nations? That’s just thick fog? Or does it just evaporate into thin air like nothing?

Its just fallacy to believe that humankind has no detrimental impact on the environment. Of course we do. The exact effect is difficult to quantify because we have only recently started looking at the problem (in the last 30 years or so). There is just nothing to compare the status of our planet to.

Someone had to step up and ask us to consider the environment. Al Gore was that guy. And Al Gore has made considerable efforts to “be green.” He is only a hypocrite relative to other eco-conscious individuals.

What’s this “all-or-nothing” mentality about? What can’t a guy be acknowledged for all that he does rather than scorned for not being perfect?

No. Wrong. Polar bear numbers have increased because hunting of the animal was stopped in the Arctic. But just because there are less people shooting bears does not mean that their population isn’t threatened in other locales and in general. Don’t be simple minded.

“Listen the world is getting warmer but it has little to do with CO2. The world has been hotter in the past then it is now. The earth will get hotter and the earth will get cooler it will happen and we are still here. So don’t panic.”

Seriously … try to read what I write before spinning off on your own little tangent. Did I mention CO2? Did I mention warming?

I said … human kind most absolutely does have an impact on the environment. And a detrimental one, at that. I mentioned pollution, deforestation, and our constant assault on breeding and eating grounds of natural wildlife. Try to stay on topic here.

    Contrarian said, 2 months ago

WebEditor asked: “Climate Change a hoax?”

    No.

But I have noticed that the debate has moved from man-made global warming to climate change.

Environmentalists have been warning of ecological doom for a very long time.

The archives at my public library contain articles warning of an impending global disaster due to widespread climate change.

The articles were written between 1895 and 1930.

The earth was freezing. Then it was warming.

There have been at least four recorded periods of climate change within the past century.

During the Medieval Period–when the Vikings were cultivating Greenland–the earth was much warmer than it is today.

I hear what you are saying about the melting ice, but the earth is cycling through an interglacial period.

From 800-1300 AD, the poles were thawed out; and this was long before SUV’s and such.

The University of Maryland has published an excellent PDF report complete with graphs and charts depicting the earth’s climate history.

  29. WebEditor

    WebEditor said, 2 months ago

OK. Let me try again, because now at least three different people have completely missed the point …

Whether the planet is warmer or cooler today is not the sum total of human environmental impact. It is well understood that the planet goes through cycles of hot and cold; it is equally understood that human’s have exacerbated the melting of the polar ice cap (contributed, not caused). IN ADDITION, humans have contributed to environmental destruction in many, many other ways beyond the impact on temperatures. If you think otherwise, you are either lying or oblivious.

Some examples of negative human contributions to their ecosystem: garbage, pollution, deforestation, over hunting, toxic dumping in water, construction of synthetic materials that clog up landfills.

    Ecologic doom? Again, no.

The point is that humans are having an extraordinary impact on the natural state. And the hubris of humankind will have negative consequences.

Some examples of those negative consequences: increased respiratory problems (allergy? asthma? dry eye? other health problems?) for other humans due to pollution; extinction of wildlife populations; dirty beaches and drinking water; deterioration of the beauty of the natural world.

Seriously … are we mad because Al Gore doesn’t turn off his lights for an hour a year? Or because he has shined a spotlight on the deleterious effects of human ignorance?

Sorry no. We are to fat so we have all those illnesses. Me I am an ex 20 soldier and I need to loose more weight then I want to admit. Yes we influence the environment so dose the sun, ocean currents, cow flatulence if you believe PETA, I am not being sarcastic I mean they say flatulence is contributing to global warming.

As for over hunting no, endangered animals become less endangered all the time. It takes an act of congress to get them off the endangered species list.

Yes we need to clean up the oceans. As for your remark lying or oblivious what did I say about you being visceral, take it down a notch. Hint, maybe people would understand you better if you do.

You like to look stuff up? Go look at respiratory illnesses among 9/11 responders. That is just one small example.

A lot of things impact the environment. But we only have control over our own behavior. That’s the point.

You’re simply wrong about the hunting point.

I don’t know what you’re referring to about “being visceral” (side note, visceral is an adjective, not a noun). In any case, I said nothing caustic; you are being far too sensitive.

And here’s a hint for you: maybe you would understand things more if you took the time to read and understand what people say before going off on a tangent; and maybe you wouldn’t have a hard time keeping up if you didn’t attribute thoughts that aren’t expressed.

As for our behavior and the environment have you ever taken the time to think is it enough. I don’t think you have. There was once a villiage in Greenland now under ice. Long ago the world was warm enough for people to live there and we people were not effecting global warming at all. So you did not bring up CO2.
