77% of Americans want health care reform, and of those, 80% want the Public Option. Problem now is getting Congress to listen to the people instead of their corporate sponsors.

Obama’s healthcare plan is in trouble. The only way to get it passed is to go the reconciliation route where he will only need 50 votes to pass it in the Senate. But if he does that, he will have pissed off half the country. If he doesn’t go the reconciliation route, he risks not passing anything which would be a huge political embarrassment.
What he should do is start over. Accept the fact that too many Americans don’t want his huge healthcare makeover. Try something small and incremental that would get large bipartisan support, allow him to declare victory (of some sort) and move on.

By the way, people are beginning to ask what did Obama know and when did he know about the Scottish government releasing that convicted Lockerbie bomber? Was he informed ahead of time (and if not, why not?). Did he object and, if so, why didn’t he forcefully let the British and Scottish governments know that it would cost them to release the murderer of American students, women and children? Where was he and his administration in this whole fiasco?

So you are saying that the Scottish government believes in releasing people who are murders because they are dying???
WOW! That is a problem. It seems like the Scottish government lacks passion if this is the case. Releasing a killer in to the public shows no compassion for the ones the pile killed and the ones he could kill.
This also shows what putz President Obama is when it comes to our countries safety.

Why does a big huge far-reaching bill have to be passed all at once? Political glory? Pass prior conditions leg this year. Pass a bill about losing your insurance next year, Find a way to insure the uninsured the year after. In my state (Ct) they are talking like taking away illegal aliens free dental was inhumane. I worked for the same company 20 years. I never got dental insurance.

Replying to Lewreader, from yesterday’s remarks:
I agree, Lew, that those who expected President Obama & the Democratic congress to fix overnight the HUGE messes that Bush-Dick left for us deluded themselves.
Certainly, though, our health-care system needs reforming. It is a disgrace among industrialized nations. Indeed, it’s the “system” cited to rebut people in, say, Switzerland, who complain about their health care: “Would you want American’s corporate-run health care?” “Certainly not” is the automatic reply. Throughout the industrialized world, people can see in what a health-care fiasco we live in the U.S.A.
Attempting an equation between the scandal concerning the presidential election of 2000 & these few “birthers” fails, though. The Supreme Court, in certifying the Florida non-recount, and Vice-President Gore’s refusal to endorse a congressional challenge both sidestepped the proper constitutional process. Less than ten years later, no constitutional scholar endorses the Supremes decision.
I agree with the common goal, but I’d like to extend it. We need to work toward the good of all people.

The town-hall eruptions are over. The tiny minority of shouters willing to act for the America-haters have performed & returned to their small houses to watch the right-wing mainstream media & to access wacko websites like those to which we receive links from opiners here.
Increasing numbers of Americans see that we need serious health-care reform, that it is almost a century overdue, and that leaving things as they are will make the problem worse. I am sorry that the House plan is so complicated. All Americans simply need the health-care that veterans, senators, & representatives receive. In the meantime, however, any steps to ensure that everyone is fairly covered are steps in the right direction. Most Americans see that; President Obama will prepare a presentation that the networks—despite their conservative leanings—will broadcast, because (1) They feel that it’s their responsibility & (2) Obama is good television; and a health-care bill will pass congress this fall & Obama will sign it.
On other issues: Satipera, you know better than to reply to Sable when he/she is in wingnut mode. No one but a few creationists thinks that Obama has any connection to the Scots justice system showing compassion. I cannot understand why anyone is in an uproar about this. This man was at least imprisoned. Ronald Reagan did the same thing but never spent a day in prison.
I agree with TinyT. & KingR., SlugQ. (though not with TinyT.’s gratuitous disparagement of other websites): We’d like to see a citation, a source, for your polling on health-care. TinyT., as to the rest of your statement, you need to think again & read my previous paragraph (above). In addition, the compassionate act of the Scots government says nothing about Obama, who is still a far-&-away improvement over the president of the last eight years, of whom you can, I note, say nothing to defend. My best to your wife. I hope that today finds here in good health, well into her last trimester.

Where was Obama when the Lockerbie bomber was released?
He was in Washington, where he ought to be.
It has been widely reported that Obama not only knew about the release, but was incensed that this guy was being released. He worked through back channels to stop it. And he made a public statement of disgust when he was thrown a welcome home party. Of course, you probably missed all that because you have ears only for information or ideas that paint Obama in a bad light.
But guess what? It wasn’t Obama’s call. It was Scotland’s decision. And Scotland is a sovereign nation. And we respect sovereign nations.
Or at least we used to.
I don’t think you understand how noxiously jingoistic it is to assume that America could or should dictate policy in a foreign nation.

The “Healthcare Reform” that is being talked about is complete government control of the healthcare industry. Of course you can keep your coverage, initally, but should you or your employer provided coverage is changed then you have no choice to go into the “public option”. In addition the I.R.S. has the right to access your financial records. Had something like this were to be proposed by the previous or any other Republicrat administration, you would have heard a cry of outrage from The Mainstream Media, A.C.L.U., liberal and conservative talk show pundits, and especially Fox News. So much for President Obama governing from the center.
DavidDow said, 2 months ago
TinyT., in re President Obama’s birth: He was born in 1961 in Hawai’i. If you can prove otherwise, then go ahead. In re the presidential election of 2000: The Supreme Court stopped the Florida recount, and Vice-President Gore refused to endorse a congressional challenge. Thus, the Supreme Court awarded the presidency to Bush-Dick. I cannot see how you could possibly argue against those facts, but if you want to, then please cite sources that argue otherwise. The issue with Obama has no substance. The issue of the election of 2000 is already a constitutional scandal & a blot on recent electoral history.
Woracle, I’m afraid that everything you write is incorrect. Please stop trusting the right-wing mainstream media: C.B.S., A.B.C., N.B.C., FOX, C.N.N., &al. Please read some responsible journals and read the House’s bill, too.

Not government control. Public option. Key word: option
If your employer coverage lapses, you do have private mechanisms. Look up COBRA, for instance.
The IRS has no right to your records unless you are being audited. Nothing will change that.
The last administration did, however, propose a vast invasion of privacy and an over-arching invasion on Constitutional rights. It was called the PATRIOT Act.

TinyT., I don’t know what you mean by “same thing”. If you have no evidence that President Obama was not born in Hawai’i, evidence to refute his birth announcement of 1961, say, which is pretty definitive, and evidence that he was born someplace else, then simply admit that your claim is baseless.
As to the presidential election of 2000, you haven’t refuted anything I wrote about it. We can discuss it further, but there is really no need. Historians are coming to a reasonably consensus about it; a complete recount was performed in the fall of 2001, so we have an accurate count of the election of 2000; and (thank our lucky stars) despite efforts in that direction, Bush-Dick didn’t destroy the country, and we have moved back, if slowly, onto the track of progress. It will take MANY years to clean up the messes left by Bush-Dick & the Republican Congresses, but Obama & the Democrats are making a start.
Your remark referring to mine about the mainstream media made no sense. If you have something to say about them, then please do so. I don’t know why anyone takes anything seriously that any of those networks state. I suggest—for you & all other readers—that you turn off the box & take up the more literate & intelligent magazines & newspapers: THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE WASHINGTON POST, THE NATION, THE PROGRESSIVE, & THE NEW YORKER—just to name five. There is also decent information on N.P.R. & P.B.S. Listen to THE DIANE REHM SHOW, DEMOCRACY NOW, TALK OF THE NATION, WASHINGTON WEEK, & NOW—to name just five.

What if I questioned your legal alien status and asked you to unseal your birth record (which contains vital information) and your school records so that I could post them on the Internet?
And before you give me that “but he’s the President and he serves in public office” line … we live in a land of Constitutional rights and in a land where privacy ought to mean something. How can you expect a President to enforce a Constitution and the rights they convey if he does not get the benefit of those same rights?
Obama’s records are sealed because everyone’s records are sealed. Or did you forget the part about rights being equal and that no one deserves special treatment, either for benefit or punishment, under the law?

Norman Norman Norman - Oh My - Y do U believe all the “Hoo Ha”” (polite form of BS) U read about Birther Rants.
So to learn more I googled:
Kenya sealed Obama records
AND found:
“A recent WorldNetDaily article by Jerome Corsi reports “Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama’s birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation – and even several lawsuits – WND has learned that Hawaii’s Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate’s birth certificate under seal and instructed the state’s Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances.””
http://us.altermedia.info/news-of-interest-to-white-people/obamas-records-sealed-by-kenyan-government-and-hawaii-governor_3932.html
So I Googled: World Net Daily & Found Via Wiki - (I know it’s ?’able information source, but then so is the topic of President Obama’s Birth Certificate.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WorldNetDaily
It has alot of STUFF I don’t care to copy, but there U go. Look at the SOURCE of your Birther Rant - This is what I came up with -
DO U HAVE ANY RELIABLE SOURCES?

Web and Norman.
The issue is simple. Obama by sealing his records got these birthers ranting to make them look like idots. The thing is because he sealed his birth certificate and all the info on a birth certificate is name date parents place of birth vital but nothing one needs to worry about, he made himself look like an idot to. It is just another flag pin issue.
WebEditor said, 2 months ago
With all due respect, Jack, that is not the issue at all.
Obama didn’t unseal his records because no one should have to. In fact, Obama’s records were reviewed and certified by the proper agencies. This is a moot issue.
So, let me make this crystal clear:
No private citizen has any right to gain access to another private citizen’s private records, regardless of whether you believe the information on those private records to be consequential or not.
Public figures have to divulge certain information, such as tax records, to qualify for an election. But those kinds of records are not nearly as personal as someone’s birth records or school records.
If you or anyone expects your records to remain private, then you should hold your public officials to the same standard. Period.
What’s next? Are we going to demand public servants offer up their private medical records?

Pelosi keeps talking about the Nazi’s and comparing them to conservatives, right wings, anyone whom is against the Obama administration and the democrat party.
She may need to realize that half of the people are not with their plan and are extremely upset with the whole Obama administration and the democrats being in full control.
Back to the Nazi statements she is stating. I briefly watched some material on them and their torture. I always heard of the 10 million people the Nazi’s killed and the torture such as hanging people by their arms behind their back. This would break numerous bones at once. But of the 10 minutes I watched of this 2 hour show was more brutal than anything I have seen or could imagine.
They would completely break down the people mentally, physically and torture them while doing it. They would send in homosexuals to rape heterosexuals. They would rape people over and over, burn their reproductive parts, beat them with wipes. Shot them at close range and great many other items.
The reason why I am stating this. I think there is only four people in Washington whom would do such things as these. They are the most evil and wicked in Washington and possibly the whole world. Obama, Hillary, Pelosi and Reid.

Thank you, Norman. You have no evidence.
I’m afraid that you’re wrong, TinyT. The media outlets I mentioned earlier are fundamentally conservative. The newspapers, magazines, & radio shows I suggested are intelligent & informative. GJ_Jehosaphat–You“believe”hell means something other than eternal damnation tormented in a place called hell . Fellow pilgrim you believe well .This valley was the garbage dump for every thing . This land fill is a park today . Vine’s complete expository dictionary . ——-Hell
That God, “after He hath killed, hath power to cast into hell,” is assigned as a reason why He should be feared with the fear that keeps from evil doing, Luk12:5; the parallel passage to this in Mat10:28 declares, not the casting in, but the doom which follows, namely, the destruction (not the loss of being, but of wellbeing) of “both soul and body.”
In Matthew 23 the Lord denounces the scribes and Pharisees, who in proselytizing a person “make him two-fold more a son of hell” than themselves (Mat23:15), the phrase here being expressive of moral characteristics, and declares the impossibility of their escaping “the judgment of hell,” Mat23:33. In Jam_3:6 “hell” is described as the source of the evil done by misuse of the tongue; here the word stands for the powers of darkness, whose characteristics and destiny are those of “hell.”
For terms descriptive of “hell,” see e.g., Mat13:42; Mat25:46; Phi3:19; 2Th1:9; Heb10:39; 2Pe2:17; Jud1:13; Rev2:11; Rev19:20; Rev20:6, Rev20:10, Rev20:14; Rev_21:8.
Notes: (1) For the rendering “hell” as a translation of hades, corresponding to Sheol, wrongly rendered “the grave” and “hell,” see HADES. (2) The verb tartaroo, translated “cast down to hell” in 2Pe_2:4, signifies to consign to Tartarus, which is neither Sheol nor hades nor hell, but the place where those angels whose special sin is referred to in that passage are confined “to be reserved unto judgment”; the region is described as “pits of darkness.” RV
