    Wow - Am I in the “Right” Universe? Come home from the mountains blissed out from the awesome beauty to find I’m in agreement with Carl Moore & SOTU! I must have stepped into one of those Superman BIZARRO WORLD realms last week.
    I’ve read somewhere that Lou Dobbs is an embarrassment to his network - stopped watching his programs since his rants on illegal aliens. Carl Moore has turned (even if temporarily) toward the forces of “Light.” It’s A Miracle!

    Didn’t you ever hear to be moderate? Go slow. The idea of instant gratification on Health care may be appealing, but might what starts as 1000 pages turn into the IRS code? What ever happened to “One step at a time”? There are Many issues here. Many lawyers here. Go slow.

    Did anyone really believe the war would end swiftly because we changed administrations. Did anyone really believe GitMo would close in the first 100 days? Did anyone believe you could change the racial differences in this country by calling the police stupid for doing their sworn duty of protecting the citizens when crime is reported?

    Left wingers called Bush’s election illegal because he was appointed by the Court in compliance to the Constitution. Right wingers claim Obalma’s victory void on some half-baked idea that he was not born in this nation. These people are the fringe. Get back to the center.

    We have to work towards a common goal, the good of the American people. During Vietnam, there was one color Marine, green. That was first, all differences second. Why can’t people forget that they are Black, senior, Hispanic, male, female, disabled,single-parent and all these other MINOR differences and pull together?.

    Missed on this one, Carl Moore. There’s only one way to resolve this issue - examine the birth certificate. Questions of whether America is stupid for not examining it, or for yes examining it, or for voting in the man without examining it, are frivolous. The only thing that matters is to honor the Constitution. Since there is a question, bring forth the certificate. Do the right thing. Who cares what the rest of the world thinks about our intelligence - it ain’t their country.

    The point about looking stupid is the point. Obama was born in Hawaii. The courts looked at his birth certificate. Saw it, made a decision, that is what we pay them for. Obama has not released his birth certificate because it now makes birthers look like morons. It also makes him look like a moron. To stop it all Obama has to do is release his birth certificate to the media.

    Beguine, just a minor point. When McCain was born, the Panama Canal belonged to the United States. He is a natural born citizen by law, not by an extension of courtesy.

    Recognizing John McCain’s citizenship, beguine said: “That was a courtesy the Democrats felt obligated to extend. Republicans don’t know the meaning of the word.”

    In point of fact, John McCain’s lawyers issued this statement:

    To the extent that we could, we looked into the substantive side of these [birther] allegations. We never saw any evidence that then-Senator Obama had been born outside of the United States. We saw rumors, but nothing that could be sourced to evidence. There were no statements and no documents that suggested he was born somewhere else. On the other side, there was proof that he was born in Hawaii. There was a certificate issued by the state’s Department of Health, and the responsible official in the state saying that he had personally seen the original certificate. There was a birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser, which would be very difficult to invent or plant 47 years in advance.

    Jmca Rice, Doonesbury has opened mocked the left in the past, especially during the Clinton era. Also, as to whether Obama was born in the US or not is a stupid point. Does anyone really think that that wouldn’t have been explored when he began his campaign? He was born in Hawaii and facts back that up. Even if he wasn’t, he is the president, what are you gonna do about it? Besides, while I didn’t vote for him, and do NOT support his beliefs, he is our president and we should respect him, not call him the antiChrist or compare him to Hitler.
